Cavalier Girls Say "Thanks" and Give Back to Columbus and Pittsburgh Communities as Part of NBA Week of Service
Cavalier Girl Amanda says "Ni Hao" from Beijing China!
Ni Hao Cavalier Fans! It's Amanda from the Cavalier Girls and we arrived safely in Beijing after a long and packed 14 hour flight, and the truth is I don't even feel that jet lagged. I think it is just because I am so excited! Everything here is so interesting and I am trying to take every sight and every moment in. The people here in China LOVE the NBA and love the Cavaliers almost as much as we do. Everywhere we go in our Cavs gear people stare and want our picture and talk about LeBron James! Lol. We are here to do a performance for the very popular "Tsingtao Beer Dance Passion" reality TV show that is similar to "So You Think You Can Dance" in the United States, I really hope we can post the show on CavFanatic so everyone can see it. It is going to be great and everyone in China will know what Cleveland has got to offer, which is a lot!
Our first full day here was a free day so we went to climb the Great Wall of China and seriously, I don't think anyone will understand how much of a climb it really was. I thought you just kind of strolled on the wall but it is on top of huge mountains. We had to take a cable car to the top but it was worth it, the sights were breathtaking. It was a great workout, and actually so strenuous that I tore a hole in my shoe! It was an experience I will never forget, truly one of the best things I have ever done in my life.
After we got back to the hotel from our outing we all took a much needed and much deserved nap. Then we got a call from our NBA contact here in China and she took us out to a dance club in downtown Beijing called "The Kros Nest ." It was quite an experience. The club played all American rap music so we felt a little at home. We had some Chinese Pizza and tried some Dragon fruit that they put out at the table. If you've never tried it I suggest you do, it is really good. We got back to the hotel pretty early and rested up for today, Monday. Today we are going shopping at the world famous Silk Market and Pearl Market in Beijing. I literally cannot contain my excitement! After shopping we will have a practice in the hotel and rest up for a long day of show rehearsals on Tuesday. It is a live TV show and everyone here keeps telling us that like it is going to throw us off. I told them that we put on a live show for you guys every game, once or twice or even three times a week so, no worries. We got it! If you are headed to the preseason game tonight show our fellow Cavalier Girls some love! Go Cavaliers!

PRELIMINARY AUDITIONS
Upon arrival, proceed to the registration area for check-in. There will be two areas for pre-registered applicants, one for last names beginning with A-L and one for M-Z. There will also be a separate area for walk-up applicants to register. Upon registration you will need to complete an official employment applicant and given a audition number.
After a group warm-up, all applicants will learn a choreographed "across the floor" combination, emphasizing Jazz technique and skill. Applicants will then go on to learn a Jazz routine. Applicants will be required to perform the Jazz routine in front of a panel of judges. After auditioning the Jazz routine, a cut will be made. The remaining dancers will continue on to learn and perform a Hip-Hop routine. After auditioning the Hip-Hop routine, another cut will be made. All detailed information regarding Semi-Finals including location, time and attire, will be given to the chosen finalist at the end of the preliminary auditions.

CLOSED AUDITION
To ensure a professional and relaxed atmosphere for all participants, the audition will be closed to the public. Guests, family and friends will not be allowed to attend any part of the audition process.
The best way to prepare for auditions is to attend the Pre-Audition Workshops. A Pre-Audition workshop is a 2-hour workshop that focuses on what it takes to be a Cavalier Girls dance team member. The workshop includes a group warm-up, across the floor Jazz technique/skills, a choreographed combination routine that features a mock audition and a question/answer session at the end of the workshop. Again, pre-audition workshops are strongly recommended as preparation for the Cavalier Girls, but are also perfect for anyone just looking to brush up on dance technique/skills.

Toni looks forward to our "One Goal"
Hey CavFanatics!
Two rounds down and two to go until we achieve our "ONE GOAL" of becoming the 2008-2009 NBA Champions! I can't believe how effortlessly we swept Detroit and Atlanta. We are the only team this season to sweep their opponent during the first two rounds, and that says a lot! I know we'll continue to pick up wins as we progress further into the playoffs. Even though this is one of the most exciting parts of the season, it flies by so quickly, so make sure you cherish every second of it. Everything everyone has worked so hard for is paying off, and that is evident by our performance during Rounds 1 and 2. From the Cavalier players to our fans, everyone has given 110% on and off the court. This proves that we not only have the best basketball team in the NBA, but we also have the best fans in the NBA. The Fan Fests prior to our home games and our watch parties are surreal! There is so much excitement and support behind our team that I know it will continue with us on our path of attaining the 2008-2009 Championship!
This is my second season as a Cavalier Girl, and I absolutely love it. The women I dance with are among the most talented, intelligent, and amazing people I've encountered. In addition to my teammates, we have a wonderful coach, Jami Taylor. Jami puts her heart and soul into everything she does, and her extreme dedication to the Cavalier Girls, Scream Team, and Cavs Kids rubs off onto everyone around her. We have grown as better dancers and a closer team because of her. I know it may sound corny, but we are a family! We have our ups and downs like any normal family, but we always pull through it, and it makes us that much stronger. In addition to superb teammates and a great coach, we also have the best trainers around. Our trainers, John Henry and Paul of Mind and Body Fitness, get us in optimal shape. We began working out with them in early July, and they have completely transformed our bodies. They were able to change my views on working out, and because of them I love strength training. We get all the cardio we need at practices, but we weight train with them three times a week. Because of everything they've taught us, I will always weight train. It's just not a fad for the season; it will last throughout my lifetime. Needless to say, I'm extremely blessed to have all of these people in my life. All of these individuals have made this season exceptionally memorable for me! I have the perfect support system within my team, coach, and trainers. There is nothing I would change and I couldn't ask for anything better.
I also want to thank all of you Cavs fans for making this an unforgettable season! Your uncanny support for the team and us cannot be paralleled. You make cheering and dancing at the games so much fun! The enthusiasm and energy you bring has electrified this city and will take us all the way to the championship game; with such a strong foundation to stand on, we are sure to win! Cavs fans, the support and faith you have for the organization is recognized by all and we truly thank you for that. I feel extremely privileged to dance for the best team and fans in the NBA.
As the Cavalier Girls always say, "Learn About It". This goes for everyone who didn't and still does not believe! It's our year fans, GET PUMPED!! See you in the Eastern Conference Finals!
Love ya,
Toni
