Shannon talks about her awesome Snuggie Night experience

Wednesday, March 10, 2010, 09:36 AM EST [General]

    Hey Cavs Fans!

Shannon here from the Cavs Crew.  Were you at Snuggie night?  If not, then you sure missed a great experience.  I am proud to say that I am officially a Guinness World Record Holder!  Definitely an experience I will never forget.  It was so cool that everyone participated and put their snuggies on.  It was even better when they fist pumped just as good as any Jersey Shore guido or guidette :)  This season seems all most too good to be true on and off the court.  Cavs won (like any of us are surprised!) and we are on our way to a great playoff season!  We may have some injuries on our hands right now but keep your heads held high my fellow fanatics because the trophy is almost ours!

Lindsay discusses a new promotion and an exciting night against Denver

Friday, February 19, 2010, 04:13 PM EST [General]

    Hey CavFanatics,

Last night's game against the Denver Nuggets was so intense !!! I still have a huge adrenline rush and it ended several hours ago!! Even though the Cavs lost, the team played their hearts out. Coming back from a fifteen point deficit is not easy to do, but with the help of the MOST amazing fans in the NBA- we were able to give Denver a run for their money!!! I thought for a minute we were going to have double over time!!! Now that would have been even more exciting.

Last night we did a new promotion which involved two newly engaged couples facing off to see who could eat the most wedding  cake in sixty seconds followed  by putting a candy ring pop on their fiances' finger! The red velvet cake looked delicious and both couples devoured it! It was quite the messy clean up, but both couples enjoyed it!!

As I stood on the court and looked up to observe the fans and their energy I could not help but smile. I feel so lucky and blessed to be a part of such an amazing time in Cleveland history. Everytime the crowd chants "Let's Go Cavs," or "MVP" I get goosebumps!!  We have the best fans in the NBA! To all the Cavs fans out there-  Keep bringing energy to the games and cheering your hearts out !!!! You guys rock!!!!!!!!!!

Hope to see you all at a game soon to support the best team in the NBA!

Julie shares her memories of being a life-long Cavs fan

Monday, February 8, 2010, 01:45 PM EST [General]

Hey Cavfanatics!  As I sit here and write this, I can’t help but feel so lucky and grateful to be a part of Cavs Crew.  I was born and raised a Cavs fan and I’ve had so many Cavs memories. My love for the Cavs grew, in large part, due to my family.  With everyone being avid basketball fans, we would all watch the Cavs games on TV together.  One of my earliest Cavs memories happened in 1989 when I was in kindergarten.  During gym class one day, my teacher had us all sitting on the floor and the only way we could line up by the door was to name a current Cavaliers player.  One kid raised their hand and said Mark Price.  Other kids raised their hands, but could only come up with Mark Price as an answer.  I finally raised my hand and said Hot Rod Williams.  My gym teacher was shocked that I knew a Cavs player other than Mark Price!

I remember the first Cavs game I ever went to.  It was against the Orlando Magic during the inaugural season of the newly built Gund Arena (1994-1995).  Our seats were pretty far, but I did not care.  I remember not only being excited to see my Cavaliers live in action, but also seeing some of my favorite non-Cavaliers players, Shaquille O’Neal and Penny Hardaway, play as well.  To this day, I cannot believe that the Shaq I saw 15 years ago is now playing for the wine and gold!

My favorite Cavaliers player of all time is Bob Sura.  I have been a fan ever since his 1995-1996 rookie season.  I’ve gotten a lot of slack over the years for liking him so much, but I always thought he was underrated.  He could dunk and light it up from the three point arc.  He was at least good enough to take part in the three point and slam dunk competition.  I was such a huge fan and let everyone know it.  I remember in the 7th grade there were rumors going around about trading him.  My teacher played a cruel joke on me by getting the entire 8th grade to inform me that Bob Sura got traded.  I started bawling upon hearing the news.  He immediately put those rumors to rest haha.  I had gone to a Cavs game with my friends during the 1999-2000 season and got the chance to meet him right outside the player parking lot.  We got his attention by waving around a sign I had made for the game.  He was nice enough to pull over and stop to sign some autographs for us and talk to us for a little bit, and for that I am forever grateful.

Another favorite Cavaliers memory of mine, and I would venture to guess for all Cavs fans, is Game 6 of the 2007 Eastern Conference Finals.  I was not at the game that night, but I did, like most other Cavs games, watch it with my family.  Words cannot express how we all felt that night.  We were all jumping up and down, crying, and screaming so loud that the whole neighborhood probably heard.  The Cavs finally got their chance to go to the big show!  My sister and I wanted to partake in this momentous occasion by going down to the Q to get a photo op with the blow up Larry O’Brien trophy.  Although the Finals did not end in our favor, it was definitely an indicator of the Cavaliers’ bright future ahead.

Being on Cavs Crew is allowing me to live out a dream of mine.  This is my 3rd year on the crew and I do not take it for granted.  Not only have I met so many amazing people because of this experience, but a lot of new memories are being made as well.  I will never forget the first time I walked on that court.  It was during the t-shirt toss on opening night for the 2007-2008 season against the Dallas Mavericks, which was a Halloween game.  Feeding off the crowd’s intensity was something I could get used to!  Probably my most memorable experience of my time on Cavs Crew is the LeBron James game winning 3-point buzzer beater in the 2nd game of the 2009 Eastern Conference Finals.  I, along with two of my fellow Cavs Crew members, were standing right behind the hoop that LeBron sunk that shot in.  It was indescribable being able to witness the King at work along with the best fans in the NBA.  Needless to say, we all went crazy!  I’m so looking forward to what this season will bring and to making many more great memories in 2010!!!

Michelle talks about the excitement of being a part of the Cavs Crew

Tuesday, January 26, 2010, 11:01 AM EST [General]

What up Cavs fans?! My name is Michelle, this is my first year on the crew and I absolutely love every second of it! I decided that I wanted to try out for Cavs Crew when I went to a game last season and was able to watch my good friend Fabz do his thing on the Scream Team.   At that same game my friend was chosen to participate in a contest.  I was really able to get a closer glimpse of what actually happens in that section 111 tunnel.  After that I paid more attention to the entertainment and contests then the actual game itself.  I was captivated by all of the excitement that was happening on the court and around the arena and from that moment on I was determined to be a part of the Cavs Crew!

I was so eager to begin the process and checked the website daily for updates.  I eventually sent in my application and shortly after was invited back for an interview.  That is when things became really exciting because it all started becoming a reality.  The next step was auditions. We had to entertain a panel of judges and all of the other candidates.  I thought long and hard trying to decide what would be the best way to show off my personality.  I opted to teach the Cha-cha and had everyone on their feet dancing with me! To this day, the audition process ranks up there in my top three favorite Cavs Crew memories.  A few, long days after the audition I found out I made the team!

From that day forward things have been a whirlwind of excitement in my life.  I can remember the day we were given a tour of the Q and walking onto the floor of the arena.  I looked up into a sea of 20, 562 empty seats.  I felt the rush of adrenaline hit me as I closed my eyes imagining the “Let’s go Cavs” chants from the fans.  That is when it really struck me that I actually made the Cavs Crew!

Of course opening day was more thrilling then words can say.   I still get goose bumps before every game watching the ginormous Andy, Shaq, Mo, and Z walk through the streets of Cleveland and when our boy Lebron squashes the basketball, just like we are going to do to every team in the league! Another favorite moment of mine was when I had my first “dancing hotdog” experience.  Most people would be embarrassed to dance in front of thousands of people dressed as a wiener…not me!  I embraced it and actually choreographed our moves with my fellow dancing dogs!

Being on the crew I have been introduced to so many wonderful people.  I can honestly say that in the past few months I have met some of my best friends.  Our team is full of genuinely kind, optimistic, vibrant, and some of the funniest people I have ever known.  We are not only just a crew that entertains the crowd or a team that slingshot t-shirts, but we are a family!

I feel so honored and gracious to have been selected to represent the Cleveland Cavaliers on the Cavs Crew.  I love what I do and look forward to every single game; I do not think this feeling could ever get old! I look forward to seeing what the rest of the season has to bring and to witness the success of our CLEVELAND CAVALIERS!

    See ya’s at a game!

The winter weather feels like summer to Daniel

Monday, January 4, 2010, 11:42 AM EST [General]

Sitting at home on a cold snowy day, you seem to be filled with that gloomy and down feeling…  As on a perfectly nice, sunny day you have pleasant feeling and are even motivated to go and work out and be active. Annually and on average Cleveland has the lowest amount of sun for a major city.  But the people of Cleveland have a lot to smile about. Just as weather seems to affect our moods, so do our local sports teams. As they do, we as fans feel.

Have you ever watched a game and were so irritated that you couldn’t even watch and had to change the channel? You are so upset that you are grumpy at least for the next couple of hours. I know I have! But this year we haven’t had much of that. Approaching the All-Star break our Cavs are sitting at 27-9 with great wins against good teams, like two against the fast paced Suns, 107-90 and 109-91 keeping them under 100 both times. Also, the very active and persistent Rockets 108-83 and the best win so far this season on the road against the top of the west and the defending champion Lakers 102-87.  As our team continues to gel, we are watching a good team develop into a great team with its versatility and depth. On the back of number 23 the Cavaliers are again asserting themselves as a team to look out for. Shaq is now being used effectively until his true value is shown in the playoffs. Mo Williams has found his cape, and is being Robin to our Batman. Varejao is earning every dollar of his contract that he signed this summer. Z is benefiting from Shaq's arrival and seems to be fresh as a ripe tomato. J.J. has continued his growth and has provided valued minutes. Delonte has signified himself as the true X-factor to our team’s success. Jamario has given us another “athlete” to run the floor with LeBron. And the pair of Boobie and AP has also been consistent from beyond the arc and have been playing great defense as well.

Lebron has already won player of the week twice this year and also player of the month for games through October and November, and Shaq won the community assist award.

As a kicker, Leon Powe who was a significant factor in the Boston Celtic championship drive is working out and getting stronger from his surgery on his ACL and Meniscus “The Show” is planning on coming back and providing even more depth for our Cavs after the All-Star break.

So amongst a long cold winter, what we ask of the Cavaliers is a summer’s day performance and a tropical vacations ending!!!
