i was thinking it might be nice to give us an option to have our posts blocked to people who are guests and not registered users on this site. i don't know how all these technical website things work lol but if that is possible, it could be a good idea.

you guys are misunderstanding what i'm saying. i meant, each person should have an option to have their posts private to guests. i'm not saying threads and forums should be private. kind of like how we have the option to block ourselves from seeing certain people's posts if we want.

So you want to post your thoughts on a public forum for everyone signed up to see, but dont want some posts to be totally public.

Im not too sure on the point of that.If you feel comfortable enough to post things publicly to the random people on this forum, then Im not sure why you'd feel uncomfortable with the random people on the internet.

There isnt really a difference between the two in terms of age, maturity, etc.I would be a little more afraid of the people that can actually post on the forum since they can flame/judge/bash whatever it is you're trying to say.

A lot of the regular posters are guests on here because they have their settings like that so people dont see that they are online and hound them with pms and stuff... Im set as a guest on here ...so anytime im on my name doesnt show up as the registered user online but i am on under my name when i post

lol

but do yall really get that many PM's just from people seeing you signed in? That seems odd to me. Like, if someone really needed to private message you, wouldn't they do it regardless if you are signed in or not?

A few times, here and there, I would go "invisable" on the old boards, but that was mostly for fun...back when I used to change my name every night from CavalierBuck(Drake Mallard) to DarkwingBuck(once night time came around lol)

I hardly ever PM. Just with one person on a regular basis really. She knows who she is lol (not Doe)Smile

That would be pretty funny tough, if Doe and I PM'd each other, while sitting in the same room or the room next to me haha

see idk about all these computer things but i was talking about posts not being visible to non-registered users. i made myself invisible ever since i became a moderator so yeah, something would have to be tweaked in the system so it would recognize the guests with accounts and they would still be able to see the posts. it's prob not going to happen anyways but it was just an idea as an option, wasn't gonna be mandatory. and i made this thread a couple weeks ago because a non-CF person was coming onto these boards and spying on my posts, and that REALLY rubbed me the wrong way. so that's where my idea came from.
