I don't know why, but I just have a bad feeling Orlando will make a trade for Monta Ellis. Golden State is clearly rebuilding now, and Orlando is in the need of a PG. They were able to pull of a trade for Rafer Alston last year, and I can see something happening again this year but for Ellis. |

Orlando does need a PG.....but it'll be a lil tough to work something out.....though doable. Ellis makes $11M this year...... They aren't trading Dwight, Jameer, Carter, or Lewis obviously. They can't trade Gortat, Bass, or Barnes for another month since the signed or re-signed them this summer. They just traded for Anderson this summer, so not sure they can move him again yet (and doubt they'd want to anyways). They could trade JJ Red****, Mickael Petrius, and Adonal Foyle......but that would leave their bench a little vulnerable.
They'd have a great starting 5 once Jameer is back: Jameer-PG, Ellis-SG, Carter-SF, Lewis-PF, Dwight-C Bench wouldn't be bad with Gortat, Bass, Barnes, and jason Williams...... They do lose some tough D in Petrius and 3pt shooting in JJ...... Not to mention, while Jameer is out, they'd be extrmely thin at the 2/3 spot since a few of their other players and banged up. So getting Ellis may not really make them a better overall team while Jameer is out....
Would be a bold move for sure.......if they threw in some picks or something, might actually work..... |

in the last 3 days two things have happened... 1. Monta Ellis has stated that hes not going anywhere 2. The Orlando Magic has stated that they will not look for another point guard... |

Orlando doesn't have any trading pieces unless they want to break up their core |

Well Stephen Jackson also said that he didn't want to go anywhere after saying he wanted a traded.....then changed his mind again. Ellis also has been very public about 'not being the guy' for GS. So even if he wants to stay, the Warriors could decide they are better off moving on and getting a true team player and leader.
I know Orlando said that now.....but can Jason Williams really hold up? If things get ugly, they could get desperate...... |

those guys aren't very good trading pieces though, and those two guys wouldn't even be enough salary |

Nelson's only going to be out 6 weeks. Does that really mean they have to reshuffle the roster? |

Compared to what most have said the Cavs would offer, they are very good trade pieces. JJ is as good or better than Boobie, and Petrius is as good as anyone on our bench right now.
And actually, they are enough salary....if they included another bench guy (I was wrong about Foyle though, he can't be traded either as he signed as a free agent). Would have to include Johnson or Anderson (who can be traded). Orlando can get it done.....but again, the trade really doesn't make them better overall. |
