Groups Now Have Forums

Exciting announcement.  Groups within this community now have forums.  The group owner needs to create the forum, and once they do, members of that group can start topics, etc.

Couple of things:

- Forums in private and semi-private groups cannot be viewed by non-members of that group

- Right now there is a bug where group forum posts are showing up on the homepage....this should be addressed shortly.

Sounds like a lot of wasted effort to me. Anything in the Browns Fans new forum can just as well go in the Browns thread in Off Topic. Same goes for most of the groups. Indians fans, Buckeyes fans. Just seems like a new toy that I'll never play with.

Its a cool idea, but then again, I agree with everything Gla$s just
said. If I'm in a group that makes a fourm.. I guess I'll post in it for the heck of it, but it's something that I wouldn't care for much.

I used Glass in a different thread, but it got blocked out.(Works now, though)..   And that would be funny. Are those really the players profiles or whatever? Would be kinda wired seeing them actually post something.

It's most useful for private or semi-private groups. If you don't necessarily want everyone else to see.  Or, if your group becomes large enough, it allows you to have your own forum so you don't have to weed through the forum topics on the main board.

Totally agree that for the groups you mentioned it is still a good idea to keep your threads in Off Topic.

this is a good idea.

I made forums for my groups already.

Will the browns and indians OT sticky's be taken away now that there group forums for them.

I think they should because then they arent in the way of people that dont use them anymore and the people who use them will have more to work with

Just a few quick thoughts--

I would think that for groups like Browns, tribe, etc, that it would be best for them to continue to post their thoughts in the appropriate threads and forums--but supplement through their group. But I can see how it would be really helpful for groups based on other things. They can set up meetings, group events, things like that without having to air it to the world in general. Plus I'm sure people will enjoy ebing able to communicate privately as a group without having to go through chat, which is viewable  to all.
