Danny never gives away what he's up to, plain and simple. I'm sure he's listening to offers for Wally, but he's just waiting for the right one.
hopefully you're right i have a bad gut feeling that ferry won't make any trades
I think Ferry would be crazy to NOT make a move. LeBron already hinted at signing a contract extension this summer. The ball is in Ferry's court and now he has to hit a homerun. It is clear to see that with the limited minutes and limited contributions Wally and Sasha provide this team, they offer little to the 'Chemistry' this team currently has. With Andy currently starting, and Boobie still not 100%, our bench is very weak with Wally and Sasha coming off of it. Our bench as it stands will not hold up when we encounter tough series in the playoffs.
The last thing I want to see happen at the end of this season is LeBron sitting at the podium after a tough playoff loss saying "we need to get better, and if it means personel changes then so be it." Personel changes need to be addressed now (or sometime before the trade deadline) so this team can be sure it is where it wants to be come playoff time. Can anyone honestly say there are comfortable enough with the inconsistant play of Wally and Sasha to help us through the playoffs? How many times can LeBron address the same thing before he gets fed up and may look into his free agency more seriously and eye other teams.
So basically, no way Ferry holds onto Wally's contract when there is reliable bench talent out there this team must have!
LOL, I agree with your way thinkin Sir!!! It would be almost a sin and a shame if we dont trade AT LEAST Wally!!! I personally, as you may already be well aware of lol, badly want to trade BOTH Wally and AV (plus fillers like Sasha and picks) for two KEY guys. A big and a wing guy of the higher caliber!!! I say this not because I dont like our guys, but more from a business stance. U may already know my thing, so I will just say that Wally is worth to much money wise to pass on trading for an all-star PERIOD! and AV is going to want/DEMAND somethign between 10-15 million per, based on all we have to go with this far. So, with all of that being said, I think if we have NO plans to re-sign AV, based on his price tag, then I would look to move him NOW! Bunk the possible chemistry drop-off, because there is NO way to know that the replacing of AV for an All-star PF would drop our chemistry level anyways. Plus, I wouldnt put ALLL my stock in just this one season, especially if we will just LOOSE a guy with AV's stock value! I would make the trades of BOTH Wally & AV, because those two pieces and some fillers could bring us two top tier players, and that would make us a DYNASTY over night!!! I wouldnt say just trade for ANYBODY good, but someone good that should fit our system, and bring to our program the things we need for NOW and the FUTURE! Signing two top-tier guys, with haveing Mo on the squad already would surely be ALL we could do to lock LBJ in as well! If he sees, we have a FOUR man show, with some really good role players, then I think he is a CAV for LIFE!
"Ahhhhhh I feel sorry for you...daadaaada(all the hits you take) take a toll on your body..." lol "...ahhh he's just a little baby...but they, but they file me...ahhhh Dwight Howard..." Austin Carr (instant classic)

Agree w/most the responses that wally will be traded. It would be a HORRIBLE business move not to trade him. I just wish these guys in these HOOPSWORLD chats would give me some perspective on who they think could be the best player we can get in exchange for Wally. I'd like to know if there is something realistic besides continuing to talk about Gerald Wallace and Brad Miller. I think Mike Miller would be great, but hes kind of old news as well. Im just trying to dig up some new information.

Here is the chat from Bill Ingram:
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Chat.asp?CHAT_TOPICS_ID=107
I've been consistently reading through all the Chats on Hoopsworld and EVERY question asked about the Cavs making a trade usually has a response along the lines of "the cavs should stand pat" or "the cavs have indicated they will not make any moves"
However,
I was reading todays chat on Hoopsworld and found something very interesting. In one part of the chat these questions and answers were given:
Tony in Columbus, OH: Could the Cavs get Brad Miller and John Salmons for Sasha, Wally, and some fillers?
Bill Ingram:
I don't think so. Ferry said recently he's not looking to trade.
Tony in North Canton, OH: Best post player that will be available to the Cavs for an expiring contract?
Bill Ingram:
Not sold they're looking for one. Maybe they can land Joe Smith if the Thunder buy him out. I wouldn't look for much more than that.
After reading these q/a's you might just pass them off as typical easy out answers for the chat host....however, read the next one......
Brett in Newport Beach, CA: (me)
Wally's contract is worth a lot more as a trade asset than it is coming off the books summer 09 Given this notion, if YOU were the GM of the Cavs and HAD to trade Wally, who do you think would be the best "realistic" pick up for the Cavs.
Bill Ingram:
I hate to speculate, as Ferry says he's not making a move . .
Again, nothing to special here, but if you couple this with the next one it makes you wonder.....
Who would you say is the hardest NBA team to get trade rumor info from? Which GM plays with smoke and mirros the most and feeds the most misinformation?
Bill Ingram:
As much as I could give you some great answers to that question, those same GM's read us all the time and I can't call them out like that . . .there are certainly some BSers out there . . .
Now, when I read this it makes me think. I wonder if Bill might have a personal relationship w/Ferry and might be protecting Ferry's plans as a sign of good faith so that Bill can continue to get information from Danny moving forward??? It almost makes sense as the question directly refers to GM's playing hard to get. Also, when you relate that info back to my question about Wally's contract, I gave Bill the opportunity to answer the question of which player HE would think would be best for Cleveland if HE was Danny Ferry and he again said he didn't want to SPECULATE. Is this because he doesn't want to ruffle any feathers with Ferry and ruin any of his plans????
I don't know, I find this all very interesting. What do you guys think? I think this could be an indication that Danny is up to no good. (in a good way)
O dear god. Oh, lord, I'm not normally a praying man. But, this season means so much to me, maybe even too much. If you could just make sure Wally is traded before the deadline, I would forever be grateful.
Zoom, really quick... even super fast. I like these speeds, you?
We still under-use our talent... too many isolations for LeBron.

I'm the Tony that was asking those questions, and I'm going to keep asking them, because I love my Cavs, but I think a trade could help the team become as intimidating as the Celtics. We are playing well, but I don't think anybody outside of LeBron is intimidating.

yea he is hush about trades, anyone think we would pull off the blockbuster last year? anyone think we would trade for mo williams? anyone think we would draft j.j. hickson? there is no way you could have prodicted any of these, (especially j.j.) (boards had us to draft kufos, which right now his outside shot would help) but my conclusion is dont look to far into any trade rumors what so ever cause most of them are gonna be false and we will probably get someone (or some people) that are under the radar that none of us would suspect plus it would be nice if there was a trade that wally got a buyout and came back, (hopefully joe smith gets a buyout too and comes back)

I was absolutley stunned by the blockbuster trade last deadline. I couldn't have thought of 4 more random players to bring into Cleveland, but man did it work out well. Ferry knows what he's doing. Big Ben is the posterchild for defense, West is TEARING it up, Joe Smith brought toughness/midrange/rebounding, and Wally brought an outside shot to spread the floor AS WELL AS a $13 mil expiring contract. I think Ferry picked up Wally with his contract situation in mind. I mean, of all the 3 point threats that Ferry could have looked at, he picked Wally. Wally isn't bad, but it seems to me that he had bigger plans in mind when he made that blockbuster trade. I agree with all of you guys about not knowing anything about a trade until the deadline passes, and I have a feeling that Ferry will make a move to bring in some good talent that no one thought of and that won't be too flashy in terms of name recognition. Who knows though...

I only read the initial post, but yeah, it's pretty evident Ferry is a BSer when it comes to what he is working on.

I like how Bill still thinks Darius Miles needs to serve his suspension before he can play. I saw someone else say the same in another HoopsWorld chat. Weird.
