Guys, it's very likely that the Spurs can get back into the finals. Doesn't everyone remember? It's an odd year!! That means duncan, ginoboli, and parker will have an additional boost. :P

But in all seriousness, don't count out the spurs. They are tough and they got the greatest powerforwad in the game and a great coach. Remember several years ago when everyone was raving about the 67 win Mavericks and the ~63 win Suns. Who came out and won it all? I think that would be the spurs?

My point exactly.  This same team has been together for almost 10 years, don't forget.  They have chemistry out the wazoo.  Don't count them out because they don't have Kobe Bryant, because they have arguably the greatest PF of all time, an All-Star SG and PG, and a highly underrated supporting cast.

Oh, and by the way, Orlando is in second place now.  Not bad for a team flying under the radar, eh?

Nice win last night!!! I can't help but to think if the Celtics are having a hard time beating us now then wait untill the trade deadline. I don't care what anybody says, Wally needs to be traded soon and I pray the player that we get in return will demand attention on BOTH sides of the floor. We were able to beat the Celtics by 15 points and that's with Wally the "SCRUB" riding the pine. There's no way in the world he should stay on this championship team because we can do so much better with someone else taking up Wally's minutes, somebody that's worth 13.8 million dollars! Last night LeBron James was locking down Paul Pierce and soon as Wally the "SCRUB" came into the game Pierce starting to get off on him, Quickly! This shouldn't happen with a player that makes this much loot, he should be a serious threat on the offensive and defensive end of the floor. One other thing if Wally was worth that much money HE SHOULD NEVER COME OFF OF THE BENCH!!!! We maybe a great team now but if we can pick up another gem we will become a "DYNASTY", that's right! Last but not least, LET'S GO CLEVELAND!!!!!

I agree that Los Angeles is overrated, but I think you are overrating the Spurs.

I think L.A. will come out of the West to meet us in the Finals, but I'd love to see the Spurs. The Lakers are far more dangerous.

In '07 we had an injured Hughes to guard Parker and Drew Gooden to guard Tim Duncan.

Now we have Delonte West and Ben Wallace.

The Spurs overrated thing has to be put to rest. They have 4 ships the past decade- thats not exactly overrating them.

Before the christmas day massacre I had the hornets beating the lakers but now i think that houston could come out of the west. People are sleeping on them but if healthy I think that they are one of the most talented teams. Their coach (forgot his name Undecided) is defensive minded, and is not van gundy so for sure its an improvement. And T-Mac still has that weight on his shoulders. Oh and im a big artest fan. They have it all:

  1. Defensive Stopper: Ron Artest  & Shane Battier
  2. Post Threat : Yao Ming
  3. Clutch Player: T-Mac

So we shouldn't sleep on them. If healthy their my pick for the west. This is T-Macs year ......

I would love to see us against the spurs in the final. Maybe we could return the favor of a sweeping to them this time around.

the chance of the rematch of the cavs and the spurs in the finals is highly doubtful in my eyes. there are a few reasons the spurs are becoming a much older team loosing to mid level teams and the bench that consists of many low key under achievers. there two bigggest players parker and duncan are riding on the line of not even averaging 20 so no the chance of them replaying the cavs is doubtful but we will see tonight when the magic are in there house.

look for the Spurs to handle their business--They wont allow the magic to hoist uncontested 3's.

I say whoever we play in the finals is going to be in big trouble. If it happened to be the Spurs then they would get stumped out probably worst than any other team we would face in the finals just because they denied us two years ago, "PAYBACK"!! I do believe that the Rockets are the most dangerous team in the league because they have everything that you would need to win a title but they are so fragile. If we handle our business and play the right way, LOOK OUT!!!!!! Last but not least, LET'S GO CLEVELAND!!!!

For some reason I don't feel like the Fakers are going to make it out of the West. They're just not tough enough and their defense isn't all that great either. They're a finesse team and don't do the dirty work. They're bigs are too soft. The Fakers are just a bunch of overrated LOSERS in my eyes.Unless they improve their crappy defense there is no way they make it out of the West.I guess they don't know that DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS.I think Kobe knows it,but I don't know about the rest of those fools.

As far as the Spurs go i'm not too sure if they'll make the finals, but it's very likely.Right now their flying under the radar and everybody has seemed to forget about them.We must not forget they have won every odd year since I think 2003.I'm not too sure because I never cared for the Spurs.Anyways back to the point.I won't be surprised if the Spurs are the team that come out of the West.Besides hit wouldn't be too bad if we could get revenge on the Spurs in the Finals after what they did to us back in 2007.I'm actually kind of hoping for a Cavs vs. Spurs Finals match-up so we can redeem ourselves.

well the last few meetings with the lakers....the cavs won... but with the spurs its different...they know how to contest lbj, and without lbj, the cavs dont really stand a chance at the spurs.

thas what i think.

That's because LBJ was the only player they had to guard in that series. Now we have Mo Will and delonte to make plays and big shots,Varejao can finally play some offense, and we have Ben Wallace for some interior D and offensive rebounding along with Z.

We have options now so trapping Lebron won't guarantee success anymore...

Do you think a Cavs-Spurs rematch may be in order for the NBA Finals this year?

Some may call me crazy.  I know, I know, how could I possibly pick the Spurs over the flashier Lakers or Hornets or even the Jazz?

The Spurs, meanwhile, have quietly won 15 of 18 to push their season record to 24-11.

Thoughts?

I could definitely see us facing the Spurs in the Finals. I still like or atleast respect the Spurs as they remain one of the top teams in the West. I'd like them even more though if they were able to beat the Magic, but whatever. The Jazz are a good West team too, but they aren't in the same league with the other teams you mentioned along with the Spurs. Sure, they might make the Playoffs and be a team to fight with in the first or second round, but I'd honestly put the Hornets ahead of the Jazz. The Lakers and Spurs cannot be denied either. All along (this season) I have been thinking that it's either the Lakers or the Hornets that we'll meet in the Finals, but I also believe the Spurs have a good chance as well. They should never be underestimated.
