I feel like I'm watching an episode of "227" with ya'll out on the stoop being gossip mongerers.  From what I've read none of you seem to be the next Perry Mason so why speculate on something above your pay grade?  I'm not exactly keen on Delonte West receiving a "slap on the wrist" after all he is someone suffering from a serious mental condition who did have multiple firearms in his possession and did cut off a visibly marked police car.  For me this is a bad combination luckily for West and everyone else it ended well otherwise who knows what may or may not have happened.

Personally and this is just my opinion I think it's insane for there to be any legal way for someone to possess multiple fire arms especially loaded at any time IN PUBLIC.  Even unloaded it's questionable unless they are being transported in a safe manner to a plausible destination.  The "grey" areas are rediculous in this country I'm all for ending the black and white mentailty but not if it means grey has replaced it.  For me grey is just an excuse.

There's nothing grey about it. Delonte West was well within his rights to own and possess those firearms. As reported thus far he had not previously nor was he in the process of commiting a crime using any or all of said firearms.

As for this being "above my pay grade", on the contrary this happens to be exactly my pay grade.

I have and will continue to try to keep the politics out of this discussion as much as possible and keep my comments directly at Delonte West's situation specifically. He, as a current player on the Cavs roster, has "earned" that. I support Delonte as a player and a person, I think he is an amazing basketball player and a wonderful member of this team. While I don't always agree or condone all of his actions I refuse to stand by while he is thrown under the proverbial bus for something that he has every right to do.

With regards to the initial traffic incident, yes I agree it was reckless and fully warranted a stop and citation from the local law enforcement agency. If his method of concealing or transporting his firearms did not meet local statutes then yes he should be cited and penalized accordingly; however if this is a matter of whether he had the right to have the firearms in the first place then I can not sit by idly. If fans want to criticize him for being reckless in his actions and placing an undue burden of stress on this franchise then feel free to do so, but I've read so many comments that are critical of him having possession of any firearm in the first place. Who are we to decide whether he can or can not, should or should not own a firearm(s)?

Since he is an individual who has struggled with Bi-Polarism, and since we as a fan base have embraced him this is the very time when he needs the support of those same fans the most.

What do you expect him to do? Shake hands with the guy that doinked his newlywed.

He was on a mission that night. Since when do you bring a Bowie to a shootin' gallery?

You forgot to mention that the second amendment was adopted from the English which I find kind of ironic: The concept of a universal militia originated in England.[7][8][9] The requirement that subjects keep and bear arms for military duty[10][11][12][13] dates back to at least the 12th century when King Henry II, in the Assize of Arms, obligated all freemen to bear arms for public defense. King Henry III required certain subjects between the ages of fifteen and fifty (including non-land-owning subjects) to bear arms. The reason for such a requirement was that without a regular army and police force (which was not established until 1829), it was the duty of certain men to keep watch and ward at night to capture and confront suspicious persons. Every subject had an obligation to protect the king's peace and assist in the suppression of riots.[14]

I'm tired of hearing the second amendment used as an excuse for gun officianados especially on a day where of all places but a US Army base soldiers lost their lives at the hands of an armed comrade.

Obviously not I just wonder why the guy had the guns is all.  If there was ever a place for people not to be armed unless in the Military Police or on a firing range or doing some sort of exercise I would think it would be an Army base.  I don't care to speculate I just am not a big gun fan and I don't apologize for that belief.

TNT talked about this. Said they talked to a Maryland law enforcement expert who said in cases like Delonte's - he'll get house arrest (and be allowed to continue playing basketball).
