This is another sign of why we lose against teams with the so called stretch or athletic power forward. Hickson played well IN the Pre-Season and has not been getting consistent minutes. The regular season really is just for playoff positioning, and we have to get ready to beat the Celtics and Orlando. With the current match up we have right now it will still be a uphill battle. I really like Hickson and I think he is the athletic power forward we have been looking for. Mike Brown is still not a good coach.
Every other coach around the league plays their young players and gives them a chance to develop. Mike Brown does not. Look
at our Drafts since Brown has been here he has not played are young players very much and we never get a chance to see them to develop. Look at Shannon Brown who has developed to be a solid player. We probably will wind up trading Hickson and he will develop to be good with some other team. Which will be a bad move.

He must improve his defense and use his athleticism on rebounding. If he does not do this then he will continue to ride MB bench regardless of his offensive fire power.

Yeah i think JJ has come down with a bit of the Sasha fever. Remember when Sasha said his offense IS his defense? I think JJ kind of feels the same way right now. Remember, JJ is about 20 years old, and i dont think he has the mental capacity for the game yet. I the past he has gone off of raw talent... but in the NBA there are a lot more guy with a lot more raw talent coupled with polished skills. He needs to learn more about himself and his teammates and HOW to play the game. LeBron mentoring him i think didnt help or harm him, either way. We forget LeBron has a history of jacking up fade away 30 footers, floating out of bounds throwing up circus shots... LeBron is a very good player, but he makes a lot of dump mistakes. I think JJ just needs to learn the game more, and unfortunatly, the only way to learn the game is TO GET GAME TIME MINUTES. but Mike Brown cant wrap his head around that sort of idea. Especially with an aging Shaq and Z, it would be nice to get some meaningful minutes to JJ so he can trust himself and the team can trust him if we need him down the stretch and into the play offs. |

Clearly you havent been watching Shannon Brown play... and clearly you never seen him play in college. The Boy could fill it up! Like i said when the Cavs made the huge trade to bring in Big Ben, West, Smith, and Wally... the worst part was we had to give up Shannon Brown. I would LOVE Shannon Brown back on our team. He can jump through the roof. He is a solid player. Which is what you need to surround superstars like Kobe and LeBron with... SOLID PLAYERS. nice try. |

JJ has been getting in every game for a rotation or two. He still has a lot to improve on while he's out there. It's almost like when he steps on the court his mind goes blanks and he just tries to "out jump" everyone. Defense, he tries to block everything Rebounding, he doesn't box out and instead tries to just jump for the rebound Offense, anytime he touches the ball he spazzes out and is basically out of control
I'm sure these are things they are helping him, but until they are fixed, you won't be seeing JJ for more than the 7 minute/game he's getting.
Anderson Varejao is the best pick and roll defender in the league and I will fight you if you disagree.
When we look back in 3 years, everybody is going to say how much of a bargain Varejao's contract is I hope nobody freaks out when LBJ does his Tim Duncan impression and actually entertains offers this summer just to keep the organization on their toes before he signs a 3-4 year deal |

JJ will not play more than 7min/gm until he gets it fixed, and he will not get it fixed unless he gets more min, it's like a catch 22. If you look at last year, he played well during a stretch that he played over 20 min/gm. I think right now the game is fast for him, if you give him more min he will adjust and the game will slow down and he can play his game. He is nervous to make one mistake b/c he knows Brown will pull him, no one plays better when they have to worry about playing time as much as the other team on the floor. I think we need to give him more minutes if for no other reason than to see what we have in him. We are serious about winning now, he is a great piece but I think we will make a trade this year. We need to know if he is untouchable(as in future all-star potential) or if we can pair him with Z and someone else to get that final piece we need. |

Potential can only take you so far. At this level every game is important for playoff positioning. JJ has not shown much in the time he has been on the floor in the first 5 games. In fact, he has been poor in all facets of the game. I can fault Mike Brown for a lot of things, like taking 5 games to realize that Shaq can be an offensive force, but he is pretty smart in how he is handling JJ. He gives JJ a taste of real gametime......and then.....let's him know what he is doing wrong, which is about everything important to the game of basketball. Then he has bench time to think about it. |

He seems to always be out of position to me and does not seem to have a very good B-ball IQ..I think this has something to do with our coaching staff lack of ability to develop talent but I wish he would or could play better it would be nice to see...But if not get him out of here and get someone who can help us win a championship please!!!!!! |

You should be used to this by now this is how Mike Brown coaches well that and I'm sorry but I haven't yet seen any improvement out of JJ Hickson. Personally he'd be on the trade block along with Jackson, Green and Gibson for either a PF or perhaps a backup PG, preferably a PF.
Bow down before the one you serve your gonna get what you deserve!!!!!
