I SAY SAVE TRADE ASSETS FOR CHRIS BOSH SWEEPSTAKES IN FEBRUARY!!!

I know that its been discussed to the tee about getting that stretch PF to help compliment Shaq...and that CB4 would be the ideal acquisition...and that its really late or early right now(can't sleep)...but I believe trading for Stephen Jackson, though intriguing, would be a mistake unless you can virtually get him for almost nothing...ala the Shaquistion...Steve Jack would definitely be an upgrade at SG, but we would still have the same issue at the PF position.  I don't like the idea of giving up D West, Gibson and J. J. Hickson for a 31 year old SG that could possibly put on the same act(demanding a trade)in the beginning of next season if LBJ decides to leave.  But the main reason for my opposition to acquiring SteveJack is that the Cavaliers have a better shot at acquiring Chris Bosh or another impact PF, than people think.  There is no way...NO WAY that Toronto will take the chance of allowing CB4 to leave without getting something in return. And lets be real about the Toronto situation...they have no chance of winning a title and even if they do make the playoffs, they will not get far.  Bosh has no desire to sign a long term contract with a team that is not a championship contender, so this somewhat limits the suitors for his services in the remaing several months after the February trading deadline. Now here are a list of the teams who I feel are in the best position to grab Bosh at the trade deadline:  Miami Heat->package(F Michael Beasley, F Quentin Richardson, draft picks);  Portland->package(F LaMarcus Aldridge, G Rudy Fernandez, F Darius Miles, draft picks);  Oklahoma City->package(F Jeff Green, C B.J. Mullens, F Etan Thomas, F Nick Collison, draft picks);  Washington->package(C Javale McGee, F/C Andray Blatche, G/F Mike Miller, draft picks);  Cleveland->package(F J. J. Hickson, G Daniel Gibson, C Zydrunas Ilgauskas, draft picks)...Now just to be clear...I'm not predicting the future, but I'm just presenting possible trade proposals.  Miami's main trade chips are Q. Richardson's expiring 9.5 mill contract and obviously M. Beasley, but the concerns with him are the fact that he is not a true PF at 6'7''(maybe 6'8'') and his off-court issues with substance abuse...If I'm Toronto's GM(Bryan Colangelo), I'd have to ask myself if he's really worth the risk.  Portland, without a doubt, has the most talent to offer and they also have Darius Mile's 9 mill expiring contract, but the question is would they be willing to part ways with Aldridge right after commiting 65-70 million to him and risk losing CB4 right after the season if he still wants to explore options? Oklahoma City is an up-and-coming team, but you would have to pose the same question to them as to whether it would be worth the risk of losing Bosh at seasons end if CB4 still wants to test the free agent waters right after giving up J. Green, draft picks, and expiring contracts for such a young team.  Washington's situation is somewhat intriguing because I believe that they would be more likely to taking on that risk.  I'm pretty sure that the organization is aware that as currently constructed, the Wizards will not win an NBA title and that trading for someone like CB4 would change that perception.  They so desperately wanted to win the Blake Griffin sweepstakes after tanking in the season last year, but it didn't work out. So it is obvious they would like to acquire a top tier PF.  They have the expiring contracts and may have enough young talent to pull it off. As for Cleveland...they would also be willing to take the risk given their unique situation with LBJ...most would say that based on all these trade packages I've listed, Cleveland has the least to offer.  But the wildcard in this deal is J. J. Hickson's development and upside.  I believe that if J. J. is given the chance to actually play, he will open up a lot of scouts eyes and surprise some people with his scoring ability and athleticism.  He's a solid and legit 6'9'' to 6'10'' 250 lbs PF that can jump out the gym and has an improved jumper(thanks to LBJ taking him under his wing over this past summer).  He could become a very valuable trading chip for the CB4 sweepstakes if Mike Brown allows him to play and this is the main reason why I'm very happy to see him in the starting lineup.  But time will tell and it will be interesting to see how everything works out and which team ends up with CB4 at the trade deadline.

Good Post.  The 'let's keep Z at all costs' group won't like it, but they don't realize that unless this team is improved they will lose Lebron, and he is the only untradeable player (unless you believe Chris Rock)!

As for Bosh... Well I think Toronto (and Bosh) haven't ruled themselves out of a run for the championship yet.  They will wait a while before deciding that.  But in all probability, Toronto may be looking to trade Bosh before the deadline.

In any case, we need to get a PF/C who is younger and more athletic!

that's a long post. i didn't read it, just skimmed... but:

  1. Bosh hates Shaq
  2. Toronto is a play-off team this year
  3. Raptors are built around Bosh
  4. no way Bosh gets dealt unless he says he's not re-signing.
  5. Toronto is a pretty cool city

Stephen Jackson would plays 2 positions and would be our starting sf.  He coud then play sg at other times during the game.  Z comes back after 30 day buyout but we probably will have to give up picks, bobbie, JJ to aquire Jackson and Turiaf

It takes two to tango and Toronto will only dump him if he is gonna leave, with a core of Calderon, Barghnani, Derozan and the Turk I am not as sold on him leaving as I once was.

+1 We can't basically bank on us getting Bosh at the deadline, this isn't the Browns or Indians front office..lol
