Something for all the Cleveland die hards, about talent...

But the thing is you all are overlooking a few MAJOR aspects with all of this. As most tend to mention that we have the best player on the planet, and thus pretty much only need him and a gang of good role players (its always something like, 'look how good we always do with the roster(s) we have...').

But, it's not like the call for an increase in roster talent is solely for the purpose of adequately competing with teams on a nightly bases or in dire straights, but more so to give us a High Quality degree of roster depth. Not just roster depth in general, or even role player depth, but top quality depth, which is something we have NEVER had during the LBJ era, and also for the record something highly culpable for much of the LBJ potential to leave the CAVS speculation/conversation/FEAR.

See, the biggest difference in our roster(s) and the more heavily touted rosters of the league are that we don't have the comparable talent on paper, to say the least. This is also a great deal of the reason we are always slept on by the media for the most part. The media touts the rosters that look strongest on paper and in theory, so the CAVS are always slept on because honestly, when you remove Lebron from the Cavs equation (even just to evaluate the full roster strength) you are not left with much at all.

The Lakers or Celtics did not improve their rosters out of concern for the regular season, or daily competition, but more so for the post season, and even moreee so for the Championship series'. Depth in talent provides major relief for your franchise players, which in turn allows them to be MUCH stronger when it is NEEDED MOST! Not when it is not as critical. See, the Lakers brought Artest in to relieve some of the marquee pressure from Kobe (their franchise star player), so that Kobe can be much better rested and even more able to focus on doing what he does best, and not have to focus on being the best at everything all the time that the team needs done.

Because, if your key guy has to be the key guy ALLLLLLLL the time, it will logically wear him down across the board, thus he will not be as imposing when and where we NEED him most. This is how marquees players get worn down and are able to be beat in playoff series'. It also wears/breaks them down in general; something we DON'T want for our respective marquee player (LBJ).

More talent also makes it extremely difficult for opposing teams to game plan against, as they can really NOT fully game plan against EVERYONE, so the more guys that require a game plan against, but teams simply do not have enough to game plane against, the more problems opposing teams have in playing/beating such a team.

Being able to provide less responsibility/pressure for your key guy(s) just gives them more legs and even extends their careers. Guys on that level surely want their pressure lightened and careers physically extended. Having some bonifide quality help on the roster provides a sense of security for your best players, mentally and physically.

It also allows your program to actually run a game plan (offensive and defensive) that truly facilitates your team's (best player's) strongest suits, rather than forcing these guys to run a system that is based out of necessity, due to a lack of viable talent. It also provides some serious back-up options for when your marquee player is sidelined for whatever reason and duration. With the type of roster/program we have had and have now, if ANYTHING ever happens to Lebron the CAVS are back in the lottery.

Besides all of this, I don't think ANYONE would be opposed to seeing Lebron actually playing alongside a rack of athletic horses. It really only makes senses, as you gotta figure having the most athletic player in the league would be best served playing in a system that facilitated his strongest suits. So, in our case that means some athletes, because Lebron is soo athletic. He needs some guys that can RUNNNN with him, and play above the rim, and who can create for them selves, rather than NEEDING Lebron to set them up, or whatever. Seriously, could you imagine how DOMINANAT the King and the CAVS would be with a roster of top quality horses?!?!?!? It would be a wrap...

That is also something you guys are missing here; that people want to see the CAVS and LBJ with a MUCHO DOMINANT prowess, not a 'Lebron can perform one of his famous magic shows to save our day' prowess. That is why you all are forced to hear all the '...we are not strong enough/ready...' talk, because although we are/have been a very good team, we have yet to be extremely DOMINANT since having the best player in the world. That will most likely never sit all the way right with many.

As it is not that far fetched to desire/expect an ultimately dominant squad for the most dominant player in the game. Not to mention, an extremely dominant roster would do WONDERS for nailing Lebron down for the future. Where as, Lebron feeling like he will always have to carry darn near the full load of a program is most likely not all that appealing to him, as it shouldn't be. We have all seen that those kinds of programs don't normally win many CHAMPIONSHIPS...

So, I dont think it is as much that the people lobbying for more talent are being dumb basketball groupies for the big name guys, but rather they are looking to make their home team program the best it can be, especially while we have the best player anyone could possibly have. This is a ONCE IN A BUNCH OF LIFE TIMES sitaution fro Cleveland sports, and I can fully understand how Cleveland folks would not want to just p*** that away, especially with all they have had to endure during their sports hystory...

A few of your comments I have to disagree.....Ron Artest is not limiting Kobe's minutes.....Kobe has played 42 minutes in the past 3 games....he looked so tired and did not shoot well against the Magic in the Finals...look at his stats...

Of course we need more depth in talent....our outcome of this season is riding on Mo, Shaq and JJ.....if they can all play to their ability, then we do have the talent to win it all.

Cleveland came so close last year....my how everyone forgets...like the announcer said ....what if MO had some strong games.....what if we had Shaq...just wait til January to go heavily analyzing....

Thanks for reading and replying; I hoped I wouldn't have to explain this particular point, but then again...Ok, what the deal is more so with the Artest addition is that it may not be cutting into Kobe's overall total minutes, but it does relieve him from having to FOCUS/WORRY about defending the opposing team's BEST offensive wing player every night, and even if it has yet to work out fully, that was/is clearly the intention and ultimate goal with this move...Why else would you say they pulled the trigger on that deal, especially considering that the LAKERS had the VERY LEAST to improve on when it comes to Ariza vs Artest. They coudl have EASILY just rolled on with Ariza, but they took a major chances that Artest's experiecne and more dominant prowess on the court would bring more leadership, and thus relieving Kobe from having to be the leading offensive and defesnive player on the roster. This makes life that much easier for their franchise player. And it is starting to seem like the Lakers program is pretty knowledable on how to WIN Championships, where as we can not say the same for some programs in the league...

Don't really get why posters will bother to actually post that a particualr post is too much for them to read or whatever? I mean, either you read it or you dont homie...lol...

It's Like: 'I mean it's too much for me to read, but its just PERFECT for me to post a snyde comment about...'

Where we have messed up is we got players who had one skill and just thought that their 1 skill plus Lebron's many skills would win. We finally started in the right direction with getting Mo. He just isnt a dunker, or a 3pt shooter. He is a scorer from anywhere. Now weve brought in AP and Moon who both have MULTIPLE skills. both can shoot and defend.

When as before we were bringing in guys like Donyell and Damon, who could only shoot

NathanWhite123 on Xbox360 get some in pretty much any game

Thanks Housh for reading and replying what's poppin? But yea I agree, you points are right...We were/are too one dimensional. I liek the AP & Moon aquisitions myself, but would like to see much more of Moon. But, whyis he shooting soooo many jumpers now? I thought his strength was much more of an attacking the basket and playing above the rim kind of guy? Thought he was more of an athletic styled player??? Hope we can get him on track more...
