why would he go to europe.. for the money???  he cant win a relavant championship out there in europe. its bigger then money, i think hes more about winning a NBA championship at this point. i really dont think he would ever consider going to europe to play.

We are talking about a potential 50 million dollars here...  tax free.  I don't think he will go there, either, but we at least have to entertain the notion.

i honestly think the NBA made up this rumor to plant the seed in lebron's mind a little to get outta cleveland.why you think he never gets calls in the playoffs,cause they want him to always lose so he goes to a richer city,and then make them much more money.

No dude, you guys are completely wrong on this. First of all, it isn't tax free. The team would either pay him enough to walk with $50 million (they pay the agents fee as well) or pay Euro tax, in which case he'd still have to pay Uncle Sam. And if they paid his taxes, that would count as income as well.


 


Secondly, this is about much more than money. He'd have a chance to become the biggest global icon in the history of mankind. Beatles, religious figures, you name it. This has the potential to be completely unprecedented. Then, he'd come back to America a year later and play where ever he wants to as an unrestricted FA...probably at a deep discount. This could be very bad for us and the NBA...mostly us because he'd likely only go for a year and expand the NBA market. In fact, they may push it. I guess at that point, we'd have to root for the local kid who made it big.
