Now everyone thinks we didnt do anything in free agency..... I Understand that. But there are still free agents left. Why dont we go out and sign someone like how can i say this. um JR SMITH. Ok he may take ill advised shots sometimes but he is lethal from the three and more athletic then any of our 2 guards. Imagine Mo, J.R. and Bron on a fast break. That would be crazy. Am I wrong. Danny Ferry go do your job

First, there is a thing called a salary cap, so Danny cannot go out and sign every player you want because of this. JR Smith wants a big contract that is why he has not signed with anyone. Second we have a ton of guards in Wally, Sasha, Kinsey, Boobie, Mo, Delonte(if we resign him). That is half of our roster there we need big men Z, Ben, Andy, JJ, Lebron. Thats 5 which leaves on roster spot and i'm sure i'm forgetting somone. The last spot could be filled by Darnell Jackson or another big guy. Third look at Wally's career stats we had him for 2 MONTHS. Yes he did not play up to expectations, but he has been a very good shooter his whole career and now he does not have be to the second option he could be the 3rd or 4th.

At this point I definately think the backup PF spot is a bigger priority.  Ferry needs to find a veteran big man that can play 10-15 minutes a game and be the 4th big off the bench.  Juwan Howard? PJ Brown? or maybe someone slightly younger... David Harrison?  Yeah the options in free agency aren't the best, but we still need a veteran backup big man.

There are questions, but I'm not sure there is a shooting guard problem just yet.  Mo Williams can do many of the things the Cavs need from a PG, but I think he will also operate as a shooting guard which takes pressure off a guy like Pavs.

If the Cavs can get a wingman like Gerald Wallace then I'd go ahead and get that done, but they don't necessarily need to just make any deal for a shooting guard.  JR Smith is not a realistic option, but even if he was after acquiring Mo Williams I'm not sure if he's the type of shooting guard the team needs.

I am more certain there is a problem going into the season with this big man rotation than with the shooting guard rotation.

You do NOT want a JR Smith, now Mo  here. That's a recipe for disaster on defense. I've pointed on how we have no ball stoppers defensively. Gerald Wallace would be "ideal" if he's available at the deadline. Cavs need to D it up at the 2, with a guy who give a little offensive punch. Gerald Wallace, plus a better starting 4, equals a possible championship, IMO. We STILL have the pieces to go after a Wallace around the deadline, if he's available. Remember, the Bobcats have "hinted" at trading him. For now they want to see what they can do. Hopefully they aren't very good at the deadline.

Right now, it's all about the front line. We are very vulnerable there as we speak.

yes we deffinately need a PF and a good back-up for Z.  Then possibly work on the SG after that but Wally isn't that bad just his contract is terrible.

I don't think there is either. People keep referring to Mo as a "pure point," but he really isn't. He was signed because of his ability to run the point AND score. Not only can he quickly and appropriately pass and manage the offense, he can come up big if necessary.

This team NEEDS bigs, in a "big" way. A bad injury and they're sitting ducks. The Cavs have been too reliant and playing through LeBron for too long, and way too much is dependent on "Z's" health. We need someone with presence, size, and excellent court vision to pick up the slack there when, and if, necessary.

The term "combo guard" has had a metamorphosis in the recent past.  Before, it used to mean that a player was capable of running the point and shooting at a high percentage.  Now, it means that a player is too short to be a shooting guard but not good at running the point.

Mo Williams is a real combo-guard, and that is why I think he will flourish here in Cleveland.  He will play the 1, and that is where he should be.  As much as I dislike Pavs, I think that a scoring big is the biggest concern.  There is no reason that Ben Wallace should be starting in the NBA at this juncture.

Ever thus to deadbeats, Lebowski.

Back up PF is def. a main priority like many have said we dont know what Hickson can do even though he had a very impressive summer league but thats against scrubs where lots of guys he faced might not even play in the NBA.  Varejao has no offense defense and rebounding is pretty good, but he wont be able to flop as much anymore.  Wallace is washed up but I still like him and he's probably better Defensive wise than the others. Z isnt getting any younger even though he's done great and is under appreciated by many. But either a backup Center\PF will do hopefully a veteran or someone that is somewhat proven?
