Most lopsided NBA trades ever

This recent trade Ferry pulled off for Mo was pretty darned close to highway robbery. Makes me wonder how skilled he was at lunch trading back in his schooldays. The guy probably had Oreos stashed in his desk for days!

It got me thinking about where this one ranks in terms of the more obscenely lopsided trades in NBA history, and which ones you guys think qualify for the all-time ridiculous award?

When I think of junk trades, I think the 76ers. They traded Wilt Chamberlain to the Lakers (Hello??) for the NBA equivalent of Larry, Curly and Mo (no reference to Mo Will). And they also traded Sir Charles to the Suns for three "where are they nows?" Both of those still have to sting now.

  1. Ron Harper for the rights to Danny Ferry.
  2. Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown.
  3. Vince Carter in his prime for nothing.
  4. I will never figure out how Paxson managed to trade Shawn Kemp.
  5. The rights to Scottie Pippen for the rights to Olden Polynice.
  6. Bucks trade Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to Lakers for Elmore Smith, Junior Bridgeman, Brian Winters and Dave Meyers.
  7. I'm reserving this spot for what Ferry has up his sleeves with Wally's contract.

Another good one was Tony Battie for Drew Gooden and the rights to Anderson Varejao.  AV hasn't exactly worked out contractually for the Cavs, but he was a big part of the finals run.

You all know my opinion on Drew, but at the same time he was a 4th overall pick that year and is a serviceable big.  I'm not defending the guy (I crigne using the word "defending" in regards to Drew Gooden), but it was still a steal.

Cavs get Jiri Welch for a 2007 1st round pick.

Come on this trade made the Cavs a playoff team! By far the best trade in Franchise History!

Yeah Kobe for Divac, and probably Sam Bowie for Jordan. Man if that wasn't highway robbery I don't know what is it.
