Best chance to get Vince is near the trading deadline when NJ is crashing.

NJ might trade VC for Wally straight up.

We offered them Wally for VC, but they shot that down. Not sure if it will make that big of a difference at the trade deadline, because Carter still has a decent amount of years left on his contract. Only reason they kept him is to fill some seats in the stadium. Whoelse would NJ fans go see? They would have to give them a decent young player with a lot of upside.

this wont happen because they are not gonna assit us in our efforts to keep lebron in cleveland for one. also i dont really like vc here! he requires the ball and since theres only one ball to go around i dont think he, lebron and mo can exsist on the same team and flow. we need a nice solid post player and that should about do it!

The difference in their attitude toward the Wally/Carter swap could be huge by deadline time.  If they're sinking, like most people expect them to be at that time, and they still have VC on the squad and haven't been offered a better deal, they'll definitely do the trade for Wally.

I don't know.  I think Vince Carter would be good for at least three more years, and his contract is only four years, so we'd have him high quality and then he'd become an expiring contract.

However, we'd have him through the summer of 2010, adding another piece to our owed salary and making it a bit harder to sign a Wade, Bosh, or Amare.

VC would be good for how many years.....1or 2,gotta be thinkin long term

It would make it impossible to sign any other allstar in 2010 IF we can resign LeBron too.  Thats why you don't want him.  He is at the point in his career where he will be on a steady decline until he is done,  also, he is 1 injury from being Steve Francis.

This trade could still happen. Someone made a good point. The Nets could be waiting for ticket sales. Danny could of been asked to wait till later and not to talk about it.

I thought the same thing but think about it. Were helping them get Lebron as much as they are helping us keep him and as for him requiring the ball. I'm OK with that because he shoots a higher FG% then are team averages 6 rebounds 5 assist and that will take pressure off Lebron. I truly believe carter is the final step to the championship this year. There are others. He just happens to be one of them.

Vince Carter is NOT the answer.
