So I had this up on the other board but they are now making us switch over. Anyone think Daniel Gibson will eventually be our starting SG? I mean I know he is short but there have been SGs his size in this league before. He is really fast, can get some steals and is just a lights out shooter. I just believe he is more valuable to us playing the 2, he is better than what we have now. We might be able to play a little small ball but the offense would definately improve. But I know he will be the ultimate utility player off the bench running the point when Mo sits and the SG whenever whoever sits. |

I think Boobie will be used mainly as a backup to Mo Wills. He's a shooting guard in a point guard body and because of that is almost forced to play most of his minutes at point. Reguardless we'll probably be their with mo in the 4th quarter when mike brown puts his shooters on the court. |

You kinda said it yourself, the ultimate utility player.
His size does limit him. The best place for him is point backup along with some SG backup. You dont want to throw all your offensive weapons at the opposing starting lineup. Having a deadeye 3 pt shooter on the bench should have teams worried about when he is brought in.
If he stays healthy, he could win the 6th man award this year. And IMO he likes coming off the bench better than starting. Some guys are just more comfortable in that position and perform better in that scenario. |

He always seems to provid a spark off the bench which is one of those intangibles that goes unnoticed, kindof like Ben Wallace's tip outs. It doesn't show up on a stat sheet but could be a key moment or momentum swing in the game. I also agree that he will most likely be in there at the end of the game. I honestly believe that with Manu at his best and with Gibson at his, the 6th man award could be a virtual dead heat, i mean Gibson would certainly have a shot if he lived up to his potential and renewed contract, after all he is lights out, and clutch, as well as developing his defense, point ability, and getting in the paint both to score and to kick. He has the tools to beat out Manu IMO, and IMO i don't think Manu will have the same caliber season with his age, injury and declining team. |

The kid's still young. With his limited skills I don't think he's smart enough of a player to start. I think he's a smart player, but not smart enough to make up for his weaknesses. He'll continue to grow mentally though.
I like him off the bench this year. But I think in a few years if we don't have an all-star at the sg position, he could start there.

Too bad Boobie is trapped in the padded roomy cell we have placed him in. He can only move so far. Well its ok cause Lorenzen Wright has one too !! Larry had one too but Larry has people so he moved. I hope in 14 years as Daniel looks back on his career, he finds that he did develop into an all star inspite of the peoples predictions and observations. Since Daniel is the one is his body doing the playing, maybe he will have bigger breakout seasons down the road. Even is he became just a great pure shooter, I hope he averages 18-21- ppg and gets his assist up to at least 6 where Mo's is. |
