Sasha Is The Man!

For all those who say he can't dribble:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqXx35qfxQE

I've never seen a Sasha highlight reel, or posted any youtube links before.  You guys made me do it! :)

Seriously, Sasha has skills.  His outside shot and defense a couple years ago was starter material.  On our team, at least.

He has one of the smoothest spin moves I have ever seen from a guy over 6'6.

He has ONE problem.  ONE.  He can't change his mind.  It's a serious psychological problem for any proffesional athlete. He doesn't seem to have the mental capacity to go with the flow and take what the defense gives him, especially if it is an open lane, only to be closed by a defender just outside the restricted area.

With LeBron and MoMo out there with him, he shouldn't have to beat 2-3 defenders anymore.  He'll be able to spot up, or use that threat to beat his man (he's always been able to do that).  I expect a healthy Sasha to shoot 40% from 3, and at least 46% FG.  If he can do that, defend like he has in the past, and learn to drive and kick effectively (limit TOs), he's all we need at the SG spot.

Good points and I agree.

Too many Cavs fan look at Sasha as worthless and should be thrown out of the league. He does have talent and with the addition of Mo, hopefully he is set up in the right floor situations instead of having to make his own. With Mo, we should be able to see an actual offense this year. Sasha could be a big part of it and even bigger part if he works on his quickness to improve his D from good to better or even great.

Fellas, we should wait the result of sasha's play, and please don't judge so that you'll not be judged.

Sasha is still a Cavs! and if it's necessary to give his whole game or play just to prove that he can be an MIP in Nba league

he'll gonna do it just for the sake of his team and just to stop the criticism from ya'll.

he is still young and can improve himself alot this season, and for your information, let us love our players, injured or not injured.

anyways, sorry for the preemtive words "I told you so."

Sasha can't dribble.

Those are just two examples on Youtube.  There are plenty more not documented on Youtube.

Hail to BurgerKing,

I join you in announcing that Sasha IS A BUM!!!!!!!!!!!      When it gets down to intelligent NBA play, he's just plain stupid.  He's a liability to the CAVS and I can't wait till they announce his trade.   As others have said, he's a selfish player and tries to create for himself, which is not conducesent to the success of the TEAM.  He does not play within the moment.   He often tries to do things in which he is not capable of doing and often gets lost with his lack of defensive skills.

It's just a matter of time that all Cavs fans will see what he brings on the court........which is not much.  Can anyone "give me an AMEN" .

psh...no you did not just post a highlight reel...highlight reels prove NOTHING.  it shows only the times he didn't screw up...you can make any player look good with a highlight reel.  of course he's going to look good in a highlight reel - you're only showing his good plays...how about the hundreds of other times he's lost the ball or run over a defender.  how about all the bricked jumpers?  you're just going to forget all of his terrible play because of a 3-minute youtube video?

when will you people stop defending sasha?  the guy is terrible and always will be.  I know you want to hope that he will improve, but your judgement is clouded because he's on the cavs roster and you are biased.  if sasha was on another team, you'd call that team stupid for keeping him.  you have to step back and look at him from an unbiased viewpoint.  when you do that, it's easy to see that he sucks.

Wow.  Your logic is amazing.  A 3 minute hightlight reel proves nothing, but 2 plays completely contradicts the highlights?  If you don't see the bias in your own opinion you are better than nobody.

You completely missed my point.  I used the hightlight reel, not to show that he was good, or should be a starter, but to MERELY show that he does have skills (in this case ball handling), he is just to stupid to actuallize them.  I have talked about his mental lapses many times on the old CMB.  My argument for his ability to be a solid contributor had nothing to do with the reel.  I have never and will never use a youtube video as my main argument, hence the statement about it being the first time I used one (for one minor point).

Now, with a real PG and some decent backups Sasha will never be put in a position to bring the ball up the floor under a full court press.  He's a SF, for heckity heck.  NOT a PG.  You bashers are setting the bar way too high and the bar is made of unreasonable expectations.

He has plenty of handles for a fast break or half court set.  For a SG.  NOT a PG.

To make my position clear:  Based on recent performance, he should be the backup SG/SF.  Based on his proven ability, he should start at SG over Zerbie.  IF he does that, it will be because he finally has a role that fits him.  When E. Snow was running the point, Sasha played his role well.  We haven't had a decent distributor since then.  Couple that with the lack of conditioning and injury, and it fully explains his fall in productivity last year.  He deserves one more shot.  If he beats out Zerbie in camp, he should be given the starting SG spot for a 12  game probationary period.  If it's close during camp, Zerbie should be given the role because he has proven much more than Sasha.  It's just that Zerbie is much slower and bigger and would be a defensive liability vs many teams.  I wouldn't mind a floating starting spot that is opponent dependant.

Oh, yeah.   Sasha is a Bum.  He's a Bum for holding out then not being in shape, which contributed to his injury.  It was a mistake in judgement, not a betrayal.  If he worked out hard, he could have been injured before signing a contract, and that was not in his best interest.  We are still allowed to hate him for it, though.  From our point of view, he should have risked injury for the team's sake.  You can't expect him to have the same point of view.

However, he's NOT a bum because he is an abyss of talent, like some are saying.  I know many here are young, and it is a tough concept, but try, try to seperate employment decisions from ability.  If you don't you end up looking foolish to people who know better.

IMO if one of those airball Bricks can actually hit something, He is the MIP.

Even if it is Z's head instead of the rim.
