Question is, isnt Lee looking to possibly get a big deal after this year? Somewhere in the 10 mil + range long term.

Kinda steep seeming the players that did well before coming here, somehow regress.  I'd only go after Lee if a strong communication was in place with his agent to gauge what he would be looking for after this season. Or, Im not 100% on this, by Nov, have him sign a nice extension with benefits.

These negotiations with RFAs seem to not be Ferrys strong point.Undecided

Duhon is better than Snow, but IMO not even close to West. I have always thought Duhon was extremely overrated. I couldn't believe people wanted to trade Gooden for him straight up the past couple years.

Snow would have had something to say about that in his prime IMO.  I never had that rumor with Duhon and Gooden but i agree that isn't equal value at all...I wish we had Gooden now, He wasn't my favorite and never will be but i think he would fit in much better now than he did then.  Which seems odd because we haven't changed much but really that trade wouldn't have happened without Gooden so i guess for the greater good.

Cavs send Snow's contract and Delonte in a S&T to NY,

Lee and Darko come here,

Randolph goes to Memphis.

That would make it alot easier to handle trading Andy at somepoint this season as we will still have 4 experienced bigs and JJ who will hopefull be ready to play some minutes within the next couple months, much like we did with Boobie. Lee is a free agent at the end of this season so we will have to decide what we want to do with him, and Darko is a solid option as a back-up center. I don't think we are going to be able to get that much better. He hasn't lived up to what he should have in his short carear, but he is still very young, has a solid body at 7', a soft touch around the basket and can block shots. He just needs to get his act together, push himself and keep his head in the game. He can give us some quality minutes to rest Z.

Snow in his prime was much better than Duhon. I'm comparing Duhon at 25, to Snow with us. That's how bad Duhon is, and he's in his prime.

Duhon is a dud.

Well I'm no hero, that's understood... All the redemption I can offer a girl is beneath this dirty hood.

What about this?

New York gets [Anderson Varejao, Darko Milicic, Grey Buckner]

Memphis gets [Zack Randolph]

Cleveland gets [David Lee, Hakim Warrick]

New York gets all exp contracts before 2010. Memphis gets Zack with out giving up any cash and Cleveland gets two good players but both will want big contracts next year.

Lets not forget the great value a NY or Memphis 1st rounder would be.   A player drafted  high in '09 (BJ Mullins?) would be ready as soon as Hickson, so if a  frontline-depleted NY is interested,   that would be another piece.   Not that we need  a more complicated deal!  Hickson would be good for a  future-building  team but less so for a  2yr window team.   A potentially lousy (and high-drafting) team could justify losing their #1 if a summer-league highlighter was obtained.   Just something to keep things moving forward....

As always I must remind that Memphis has Javaris Crittenton, a big 2G-covering PG that could give Gibson 2G minutes, and back up Mo with size and all-the-way penetration.   Memphis has like 4,5 PGs.   He has about a $3mil hit for 10/11 & 11/12.

Much is made of DLee's anticipated salary demands, but can't we just do the QO and have him for the 2 big years?

Would AV block a trade to NY?  It seems like he'd like that.

So:

Memphis gets Zac for Javaris;  NY gets the cavpackage for Zac&DLee;   Cle gets DLee & J-Crit for something reasonable from  West/pavs/zrbiak/Snow...if we have to include AV or Ben we still need another big.  (NY doesn't need a 2G)  If Darko ($15mil/2yrs) or malikRose ($8mil/1yr) then another mid/small goes.

Lee and Crittenton in the same trade?   Love it!  Set for the finals!

Looks, but I still think a few picks would need to be involved.

If we got Lee and Warrick with only given up AV, we'd make out like bandits. I think we'd have to send a filler player to memphis or pick.

Hakim Warrick slipped into this thread but I'm not sure he's available...Memphis needs more frontcourt, has extra PGs.   His salary works out well though, and of course a good athlete and we need frontcourt too

This is the problem with so many 3-team trades involving the Cavaliers: the other two teams would probably be better off without the Cavs involved.  If I was the Knicks, I'd rather have Warrick and Darko than Anderson Varejao and Greg Buckner, and I'd still get to keep David Lee.  As much as I'd like to see the Cavs benefit from the Grizzlies' cap space, a 3-way deal doesn't make much sense.

Unless of course the Knicks would prefer to have Ben Wallace, or if the Cavs were looking at adding Jamal Crawford and were willing to send Wally's contract to get him.

Wow do I hate this new system.

Also, teams that are looking to free up cap space for 2010 are not going to trade their 1st Round Draft Picks.  It ain't happening.
