I heard someone(not sure who)speculating on thoughts of our style of play this next season after the addition of MO. I'm wanting your opinions and thoughts on whether we will continue a slow half-court style of play, or try more of a fast break style.....or a beautiful medley of the two. I think these decisions hinder on several key factors. #1. AND MOST OBVIOUS- Z can't go all to fast. 2. If we add another big to this roster, and who we might lose in the trade. 3. If we don't make any other moves how much will JJ Hickson be involved in the rotation both now and torwards the end of the season. 4. who are starting shooting guard is. *I am not sure about Kinsey, but IMO Wally and Pavs aren't as equiped for a faster style of play as Gibson and West could potentially be. 5. Mike browns offensive knowledge. Not sure about his past credentials but he has seemed to struggle at times on set peices(which could also be attributed to lack of a quality supporting cast.) I am asking this question for a number of reasons. 1. Olympics, although the faces are completely different, and the quality of both the cavs roster, and those of the internation teams are lacking, Lebron looked awfully darn good in a more fast paced game which we already knew and could imagine. 2. 2010, we always talk about the issues that could send Lebron elsewhere or that could keep him here in Cleveland. Such as,(staying)This is home town, If we win a championship, and if we don't. Signing Gibson, and signing a star. Raising a family, freinds, and bringing his own amazing championship legacy to Cleveland and putting his stamp on the NBA on a previously not so dominant franchise. 2.2010,(leaving) IMO Lebron seemed to have fun in a more open and fast paced game, and really why wouldn't he. He has the speed, size, mobility and athleticism to pull of all kinds of crazy dunks, passes, lay ups, and 1's, and get the crowd on it's feet. That seems like fun to me anyway. My point is that players like Baron Davis, and Monte Ellis, Chris Duhon, Steve Nash, even a Chris Bosh, a Chris Paul, Vince Carter and Jason Kidd like that fast paced play, all all-stars(except Duhon)and we have seen so many of them be romanced by that style. Not to mention that New York has Mike D'Antoni who also coached the Olympic team and the Phoenix suns focusing on Lebron. (leaving) Olympiacos=lots of money. Bigger market, better cities, historical franchises, coaches, Jay-Z, He said he likes New York , and waved to some kids there. HA...on and on the list continues. 3. I am really just tired of the same ole' lets talk about this one player, how many people can we trade, and lets fight topics. So i thought i would post something more intriguing and i think a true debate that will surely hit the front office sometime between now and season.

I think the game plan will stay the same but the thought for Mo will always be fast brake first and game plan last.

1. Z can go pretty fast for 7'3", its the stopping that worries me. 2. to get good bigs, any nonBron may be sacrificed 3. out of necessity, Hickson will be involved, but it won't be pretty 4. I look forward to the 2G battle 5. It seems like defensive-oriented coaches like the slow style...in other sports too IMO we should give slow another year....but Mo may not be flexible, he may need to go fast to be effective.... LeBron looks good fast but then so does alot of players....I think the point of slow is to keep the other guys from looking good

Well, first of all, your numbering system of 1-2-3-4-5-1-2-2-3 has thoroughly confused me, but here are my thoughts nonetheless... #1. Z can't go all to fast.
True, but he doesn't need to. Our team CAN run, and should at times, but our grind-it-out style is a playoff style and we don't ultimately want to lose that identity.
As far as Z fitting in to a faster paced game, he surely can. He needs to fill the fast break role that Shaq was supposed to in Phoenix... They run, but Shaq can't. However, his role was to get the rebound and immediately make the outlet pass to ignite the break. Z can easily do that. We don't need 5 guys running the break. Let Mo & Bron & Boobie, etc. run it, then if it gets broken up, regroup and reset the halfcourt and go to work.
2. If we add another big to this roster, and who we might lose in the trade. 3. If we don't make any other moves how much will JJ Hickson be involved in the rotation both now and torwards the end of the season.
The sense that I am getting is that they have a few options on the table, and are just deciding what will work the best. It appears that the choices are to trade for an impact big now, or hold off & let JJ see some floor time. Then, if he doesn't appear ready yet, sign a vet free agent big and/or target a big time PF/C at the deadline.
4. who are starting shooting guard is. *I am not sure about Kinsey, but IMO Wally and Pavs aren't as equiped for a faster style of play as Gibson and West could potentially be.
I think Daniel has the offensive skill set to be our starting SG, but his size and Mo's size would leave or perimeter defense far too vulnerable. I imagine we'll see Sasha & Mo starting at the beginnning of the season, with Daniel & Wally/Delonte coming off the bench together 5. Mike browns offensive knowledge. Not sure about his past credentials but he has seemed to struggle at times on set peices(which could also be attributed to lack of a quality supporting cast.)
Mike Brown has the skills to be a good offensive coach. He just had 2 glaring problems in the past.... First, he didn't have the personnel to run his offense (or any offense really), and second, Lebron broke up plays and took matters into his own hands becuase he ultimately didn't have a lot of second options he could trust. We now have both of those problems solved.
1. Olympics, although the faces are completely different, and the quality of both the cavs roster, and those of the internation teams are lacking, Lebron looked awfully darn good in a more fast paced game which we already knew and could imagine. 2.2010,(leaving) IMO Lebron seemed to have fun in a more open and fast paced game, and really why wouldn't he. Lebron does enjoy running the break more than we do now, but believe me, Lebron has great faith in the defesive system we have in place. He's said it himself, and a lot of media types have confirmed it. That system lends itself to a slower style of play, although now we can run a bit more with Mo in the mix. The running style can be fun for any player, but bottom line, it does NOT get you far in the playoffs. Look at the list of players you mentioned above. Have any of them had playoff success? Steve Nash is the closest, and that was because the Phoenix team was set up absolutely perfectly for that style. However, even THEY couldn't get to the Finals, let alone a championship. Teams structured like Cleveland, Boston, Detroit, San Antonio, Los Angeles, Utah... Teams based on defense are the ones that will succeed deep into the playoffs. That's what Lebron has here, and that's important.

Thanks for your input i agree with almost all of the comments except that sasha will be a starter.(minor) I think we will run a mix of the two which should keep oppnents guessing, and i agree that style of play will also be adjusted by the personnel on the floor.
