we got the go for next to nothing, and he actually had a big part in our playoff run, in case you don't remember
And Larry Hughes was like the biggest move we could've made at the time, it was actually a good move. It not working out isn't Ferry's fault
I love these dumb people who like to use hind sight, but that's probably because they didn't follow Cleveland till Lebron took us into the playoffs
Flip Murray wasnt bad, but he wasnt that good either. I agree with his point that all the gaurds we have had for awhile havent been able to get the job done.
It actually is Ferry's fault that he signed players like Hughes Marshall and Djones not bc they were busts but the contracts he signed them 2. Ferry has learned his lesson with free agents and he is now turning the cavs around, but we still have not had much around Lebron until late last year and now bc the cavs are just getting rid of the old contracts.
LeBron made Flip Murray look decent, if you have seen him play lately on the Pistons he sucks. I can't wait to see Mo Willams wit LBJ, finally a real PG who can actually shoot and create. Hughes has never had a good jump shot, not like Willams.
the thing is, if we didn't overpay for guys like hughes, marshall, and damon, we wouldn't have gotten them
and well that sounds good in hindsight, at the time they were logical moves. overpay a bit to bring in a guy you feel can help this team. Sometimes when a team has money, it's alright to go out and overpay for a role player that you feel can help you.
we can't do that now because now we're paying for financial decisions that you can say, didn't pay off. although guys like Marshall and DJ and even Hughes were beneficial to us making it to the finals.
None of them were bad moves. The only problem was the length of the contracts. Which Ferry was a rookie and has learned from his mistakes. Thats why we are in great shape now for the future.
I am so very sick and tired of people posting Pavs mixes as a way to try and convince me that he isn't a borderline FIBA player. Look, we get it; he has had some nice plays. Anyone can have a Youtube mixtape if they have a big enough fan out there who has the time and passion for it.
He did have an off year. The problem is that he was not really NBA ready before that and he tail-spinned into some of the worst basketball I have ever seen. He needs to improve big time, and not just back to his 2007 form.
This video may shut up some of the Pavs haters. he had an off year last year, but this was from 2 years ago back when he was really tearing it up. He could really fit in well with our offense this year and he's got the potential and ability to score 15 a night. If we got 15 a night from our shooting guard this season I would be thrilled. If Delonte comes back it will be interesting to see how the guard situation plays plays out. I see Pavs impressing us a lot though at Training Camp and I think he will have a great shot at starting opening night. He's got great size and athleticism, he just needs to find his comfort zone again like he did a couple years ago and you'll see the real Sasha.
[I can't believe you have a Sasha highlight reel?!?!?!]
I know the real Sasha. That's the guy who hasn't worked to improve any of his major flaws in his entire NBA career. This is the guy who had one below average season and rode the LeBron James wave all the way to the finals and held out for more money.
One highlite reel isn't changing my mind any time soon. I've been watching him since he got PT in Cleveland and I have seen enough.

Are you serious? He wouldn't be on our team if he hadn't of improved on his major flaws. He went from being a guy who played no defense, barely spoke English, and only took outside shots to a solid defensive shooting guard with a deadly stroke and a desire to get to the rim(unsuccessfully at times). If you ask me, he's improved in two of the biggest aspects of basketball. Defense and communication. Sasha is a guy who was taking a lot of questionable shots last season because he never was able to find his groove. I think after a Training Camp and Pre-season he'll be better prepared then ever. I hope I'm right about Pavlovich, he hasn't proven that he's capable of filling it up on a daily basis, but for some reason I feel really good about him and hopefully my optimism is a sign of what's to come from #3.

So let me get this straight: Sasha has one arguably average season two years ago, is probably that starting lineup's weakest link, holds out for more money and throws the team under the bus in the process and I am supposed to give him sympathy for having the worst year of his career?
I am sick of hearing excuses for him last year. He was awful last year, and that's really one step below what he was like two years ago.
He usually does give effort on defense, that is true. But could he possibly be any slower? There are certain players that he does defend quite nicely, but overall he is too slow to be a lock down defender.
I admire your optomism with him next year, I really do. I just don't see what there is to be excited about. Threads like these bother me because there inevitibely are going to be people who say "just wait for next year, he will be good." My opinion is that it depends on what your definition of "good" is. Is it just better than last year or a legitimitely good player?
I do maintain the opinion that he has not improved in any areas of his game significantly. He's too slow to defend, he has a terrible hands rating, he causes many offensive fouls, he turns the ball over too much, doesn't rebound for his size, is a streaky shooter, doesn't understand the opposing team's defense, gets his shots swated too much, commits dumb fouls and plays like he is completely apathetic now that he got his payday. Those are the reasons I say that he has not imrproved in one single area in his NBA career.
The ideal situation for the Cavs if they keep Sasha is for him to be the last option in the starting lineup. Ideally Wally will get moved for a big this year and Ben will go to the bench (where he belongs). LeBron will be the first option, Mo Williams the second option, the new big the third option, Big Z the 4th option and Pavs will be there to literally defend and camp out by the three point line. If he is willing to take a Bruce Bowen type of role on this team, I would be OK with him. My problem with him is when he tries to drive and gets his shot swated by two defenders (game 7 anyone?).

I think you should lose Mod Status, because it doesn't give a good impression of the board when our mods are completely clueless.
you talk about how sasha was garbage last year? the guy missed training camp, came in out of playing shape(the same way most players come into pre-season), and then had to deal with injury issues throughout the season.
lets see you play with the injuries he had and the way he came out.
sasha had two seasons where he put up good #s, and it's no coincidence that his numbers last year declined because last year was the only year of the 3 that he missed training camp, and then had to deal with significant injuries
it's plain as day to see the injuries and the missing TC are the reasons he didn't perform

I'm not sure how criticizing a guy instead of excusing him for holding out makes me clueless. Besides, you're taking this conversation a little too far right now by calling me "clueless." You need to not verbally attack members of this site. Not rookies, not veterans and certainly not mods.
Besides, I did not say that Sasha was garbage last year. I said that he was worse than awful last year and that he was even worse two years ago. He's a solid bench player, and that is it.

nobody excused him for the hold out, that was his fault. however the validity of the point stands that he was not in playing shape when he came back and his play showed, when a guy isn't 100% playing against NBA players, you're really going to notice the difference.
and why can't I call a poster clueless when they're positing nonsense and trying to pass it off as a legitimate post.
