I like this trade and we still have Wally's expiring contract to make another move. May have to send another pick to the Bobcats.

good idea and great trade for us....but i'm a little afraid of taking gerald wallace although i like his game but his contract has 4 years left and we need cap space in 2010. i hope that atlanta struggles and we can somehow aquire joe johnson at the trade deadline

Focus Shifts to Point Guard

Having shored up the team's depth at center by adding veteran Jamaal Magloire, Miami Heat president Pat Riley now shifts his focus back to Miami's other pressing roster need: point guard.

Magloire emerged in Miami's search for a potential starting center late Friday and has agreed to a minimum-level contract in hopes of reviving a once-promising career.

The Heat might also take the reclamation approach at point guard. Miami was among teams recently in Chicago to view a workout by free agent Shaun Livingston, a former lottery pick attempting to come back from a devastating knee injury he sustained two seasons ago. -- The Miami Herald

It's in the ESPN Insider section under trade rumors.

Haslem for West and a 2nd sounds pretty fair, but i still dont think the contracts match up. Because West is a BYC player when he re-signs.

The cavs have not re-signed West, how did it come up with 4 years and 4.5 million...

Our front court is worse defensively with this trade and we trade a first round pick. Ferry is going to wait to take on a contract that big 4 years 10 million that goes past 2010.. Gerald Wallace is not an all-star.

Even though I like Gerald Wallace, and Haslem seems to be a 'hard-hat/lunch-pale' player, It doesn't really help us.  It would only help if we used Wally to trade for a good center at the deadline.  In this trade we give up AV who is the only backup big man on the team who can play both PF and C effectively.  And in return we get Haslem who is strictly a PF because of his size.  Even though he and Ben are around the same height, Ben is a man-beast and a former DPOTY with center experience.  Getting Gerald Wallace is cool and works for me, but taking in Haslem and losing AV just isn't a good idea IMO.
