Nothing wrong with a low cost low risk backup player just in case something happens.

For example, if we're playing the Magic, and we want to do the Hack-A-Howard, why not just bring him out to foul him? Better than waste fouls from our key players.

Why are people calling this an good insurance policy? ? ?For the money the Cavs are paying Z and Wallace, they would be considered in the Jag/Vette range. I'm sure most people owning such a vehicle would have very good insurance. What kind of insurance gives you a Pinto while your main car is down? This guy is garbage, plus we have plenty of player/teachers on this team.

That was perhaps the worst analogy ever

Heheh, I will neither agree or dissagree but I will repost it because....well it was funny and I agree :)

insurance signing, in case of an injury. you gotta believe Ferry will still be looking for a 'quality' big man, in which Wright does not fill that bill. He'll be good for his garbage minutes and maybe an occasion 9-5 game. That's it, nothing to get overly excited, or overly frustrated over.

Not every piece to the puzzle has to be the mega piece. I'm cool with the deal. What baffles me is why Wright.? There were a lot of old veterans available this summer. I ask my self why not a familiar face like Tractor Trailer or someone like Dikemde Mutombo.

I would like to hear from a beat writer, or anyone with information, if Wright is healthy and in shape. If he is in shape, he could be  a good addition.

PS, can mods edit titles? Just asking...

Zoom, really quick... even super fast. I like these speeds, you?

We still under-use our talent... too many isolations for LeBron.

LW has to (or had to) pass a physical before the contract becomes "official".

Yes, we can edit titles.

Cavs had Wright here  for a workout in Independence a couple weeks ago.  I guess they were satisfied.  This is the official announcement.

Word is that his low performance in the past couple years was from lingering injuries and getting traded to a team that didn't really want him.  Maybe.

I'm glad to hear he's in shape, but I just don't think he's going to contribute unless there is an injury emergency.  Wright made his mark as an energy/hustle player with decent size and some solid fundamentals, but I have my doubts if he still has the motor he needs to compete in the NBA.  So many of those energy guys hit a wall at about the age of 30 and never really get their game back.  Maybe if Wright's been working on his jumper and gets his shooting percentage out of the gutter, he'll be passable.  Not holding my breath though.

If he can return to his past form and give us around 7-8 pts with some rebounds he will be a solid pickup.

Wouldn't this pertain to ALL the aging vets and retired ones? Heck, Shawn Kemp would be a beast if he returned to form..SO would Mark Price.. Wink

The difference is, Wright was an effective player just a few years ago, and is only 33ish. He didn't decline due to old age, he had a lingering injury for about a year and a half.
