As a Scot Pollard type deal (a big who is just there in case something terrible happens... or someone needs to get fouled a lot), I am totally fine with this deal. Plus, it would be nice to have another vet to teach JJ the ropes. Z and Big Ben will be busy actually playing, but Wright will have tons of free time to share some nuggets of knowledge. |

i just really think we need to focus on developing time for JJ...a guy who couldnt get minutes in atlanta is all of the sudden competing with a 1st round big out of college?
i just really think this is a waste of money..guys obviously not going to make or break our team |

So that would make 3 out of 5 bigs that have AARP Cards.

If the Wright signing is as an "insurance policy"/Dwayne Jones replacement, I am cool with that. As long as he doesn't take many minutes away from JJ, I am fine with it. I mean, we can always package Wright for when we get rid of Wally, correct...? Maybe for another big? I'm just thinking ahead a bit...

I guess it's good to have an insurance policy. It's just too bad this insurance policy shoots 65% from the free throw line. I was hoping that the other big we'd sign would actually be an impact player, but no. I guess this suggests we're intent on giving JJ more time. |

I hope that we make a trade at the deadline now that we have 3 big men 30 or older that are all on the decline. This is an insurance policy i dont expect Wright to play more that 10-15 minutes if that this year.Theres 4 big men ahead of him Z,Big ben ,Varejao,Hickson so he wont play much this year kind of like Dj2. |

Once the Cavs sign Lorenzen Wright to a league minimum contract (which doesn't impact the salary cap or luxury tax), the last piece of the puzzle will be to re-sign PG/SG Delonte West. Darnell Jackson, the rookie forward from Kansas, will ink a deal and the roster for the 2008-2009 season will be set. C/PF - Ilgauskas, Wallace, Anderson, Hickson, Wright, Jackson SF - James, Pavlovic, Thomas SG - Szczerbiak, Kinsley, Gibson PG - Williams, West, Snow
Quite honestly, the Cavs will have a formidable lineup. |

Wright is a solid pick-up. As far as I'm concerned, he's more than an insurance policy. He should get some minutes until JJ is ready to contribute. This is a guy who was a starting caliber center a few years ago. It's not his fault he was traded to a few really bad teams who played their young guys over him. If you're a no good team, you're obviously going to play the young unknowns to see what they can do over your bench veterans. That's why his stats over the last few years are deceiving. If he only got DJ2 type minutes, what can you expect his stats to look like? |
