Honestly, If Atlanta decided they are ready to give up at the deadline and try to clear up money for the FA lottery of 09 or 10 then they just might dump Johnson off on us and Im convinced he would be Pippen out here. We should do anything they ask concerning picks, sorry old wally, boobie or delonte, and Av.

Comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.

hmm that's not impossible. they loose childress and the east got a lot better...teams like philly, miami, toronto, wizards (when they are all healthy) and even chicago are a lot better than last year and could easily be in front of atlanta in the standings...

poor men wanna be rich, rich men wanna be kings, and a king ain't satisfied till he rules everything.

I would LOVE to get Johnson to the Cavs, but I'm a little torn about the how.  Obviously, using Zerbie and West is a no brainer, but AV?  It's not his talent, just our thin and old front line that worries me.  I might only do that trade if JJ shows up big time.  I just don't see having the best PG/SG/SF punch in the NBA doing much if Z and/or Ben go down to an injury.

PG: MoMo \ Gibby

SG\SF:  Solid Gold \ Joe Johnson \ Pavs \ Kinsey  *  (Interchangeable and will force their defenders to learn our plays for both postions)

PF: Ben \ JJ \ DJ

C:  Z \ LW

That's a scary thin front line.  Without injuries I'm fine with it.  We have so much shooting and scoring, we honestly don't need the rebounding we have had the past few years.  The defense looks good, too.  JJ  better be in the top 5 ROY candidate for the trade to be A+.  Of course, we could just become a run-and-gun team with Z/Ben pulling down D-boards like Shaq in Phoenix, but do you really see Ferry/MB going that way in the East?  I don't.

IMO, it's starting to look like any future trades MUST hinge on the performace of our rookies.  If they don't pan out, any trade MUST include a good backup caliber big.

Cavs not getting Joe Johnson.  The Hawks is a young team that pushed Boston to 7 games, and Joe Johnson played like a superstar.  Therefore, do you actually think the HAWKS front office will trade their best player just because they stuggled the 1st half of the season?   Even if the Hawks struggle, they still will not trade Joe Johnson.  The Hawks would have to struggle all season, then, miss the playoffs, then struggled the first part of the 09' season and maybe at the deadline of THAT season they may consider it.

The chances of the Hawks trading Joe is slim to none.   Joe proved himself, so if anything they would keep Joe and put better player's around him.
