Cavs Sign Jackson

Looking at the money, Jackson's salary has to be at least $442,114, $736,420, $854,389, since that's min salary.  Jackson's three year deal has to be at least $2.03Mil total.

I'm guessing his salary this year might be closer to $585K, since that was how much was missing from the MLE offer the Cavs gave to Krstic. (Guaranteed 3 year deals to second round picks can't come from a first round exception, a min salary exceptions or the BAE ).   If his first year is $585K, and he gets 25% performance bonuses, Jackson's deal could easily be close to what the 30th pick gets, $2.6Mil over three years.

What an amazing letter this young man wrote!

This guy is for real.  No phony bum could possibly have written that letter.

The letter Darnell Jackson (DJ3) wrote the Lawrence Journal shows that he has plenty of smarts and character. I believe he lost his starting job at Kansas on their way to the Championship. He kept working and producing and got it back for March madness. I have Kansas City friends who watched him on a regular basis last year. They raved about how he was the heart and soul of the team. A three year guaranteed contract means that he has some talent.

That letter just put him in a 4-way tie for my favorite player, along with LeBron, Z and Boobie.

The responsibility and maturity that this letter shows is so rare in sports these days, both collegiate and professionally.  It's great to have a person of his calibur on the team.

Btw.. I guess this means he doesn't hang out with Chalmers and Arthur too much?  Tongue out

I just read that letter, and all I have to say is "wow."

It was so sincere and well-articulated.  Nobody can write a letter like that unless they really mean it.  I'm very excited to have this guy for at least three years.

Along with the rest of you I am very impressed with his letter and not bragging in any way or sounding like a complete idiot and it sounds like he worked hard in school I would love to see him become a great player and to me it seems like he has great work-ethic so I hope he can transition that into basketball and become a great post player.

Surprised to see Jackson get a guarenteed 3 year contract. Good for him though. Now Wright and Jackson, how will JJ Hickson get his minutes.

Alright now we just gotta work this thing out with DWest. Also suprised Jackson got 3 years, the cavs are obviously high on Jackson and Hickson to replace Joe Smith.

Jackson's obviously got his head in the right spot. I'm looking forward to seeing what be brings to the team this year. Like others have said, the Cavs must see something in this guy to sign him for three guaranteed years. He seems to have a very good work ethic, which is always a good start. Is this the end of the road for Allred? He contract is not guaranteed, correct?

This is pretty weird. Ferrys puttin alotta faith in our 2 rookie big men. Givin Darnell 3 years guaranteed and making Hickson the 4th big guy are pretty bold moves. And Ferry hates taking risks.

Maybe these two guys can really cause some damage this season.

Id like another trade for a decent big man like Lee or Frye, but it will be interesting to see if Hickson and Jackson can actually live up to this hype.
