J.J will not start at forward, wallace will, he is our rookie why start
him over a vet. who knows the nba, i would like j.j to play a lot but
not start until he gets to know the nba, we don't even know if he will
be good, he did good in summer league but that will be different when
he faces some1 like bosh, KG

JJ startin? Come on man, Im all for supportin the rookie but dont let tha herbs get to your head.

If JJ Hickson can contribute to us this season off the bench we are real lucky. If Darnell Jackson can contribute then we musta stolen some of the luck from the Celtics.

i'm all for jj starting..but not at the beginning of the year. he might be in and out of the line up like boobie was his rookie year but i think jj will make a big splash off the bench throughout the playoffs. if he has a rookie year like boobie..then we now we are dealing with a great player(except he won't be jackin up as many 3'sTongue out)...and as for darnell..well i want to see him get some minutes but we do have lorenzon wright too so those 2 will battle for the 5th spot and the other won't be dressing very often..(i think lorenzon wright will be a scot pollard type..just used to waste fouls on shaq and yao.)

Wow... I remember hearing Darnell speak for the first time during his press conference introduction and thinking to myself: this guy seems pretty articulate.. this letter just solidified that impression.

That's a classy letter. I know that the Cavs were impressed by Darnell's personality when they brought him in for a pre-draft workout. I think that he will be the best fifth big man that the team has had in the last four years, and I'm not saying that as a Dwayne Jones basher. I thought that Dwayne did an adequate job as a fifth big man last year. I wish Dwayne luck going forward, and I think that he will continue to improve as a defender and rebounder if he gets a chance with someone.

By comparison, I think that Darnell Jackson (is he DJ3 or does being a current Cav make him just DJ?) has more all-around skill despite having a smaller body. I like a fifth big man to be able to play multiple positions, so it was important to me that he showed the ability to play some minutes at the center position if need be. His block of an Andray Blatche reverse layup attempt in the one Summer League game was one of the ten or twenty best blocks I've ever seen.

One question for me is whether he'll get the chance to beat out Lorenzen right away or whether they send him to the NBDL. If I'm not mistaken, the current Cavs regime feels that guys learn more being with the team than playing in the development league. They seem to only send guys there for brief stints to get them sharp.

All in all, I think that Darnell's draft night acquistion was a good move. Danny's had a very good offseason so far, but as one of the few people who hated last year's big trade, I still don't think that the current team is as good as the pre-trade team was. Signing Delonte would put them in the ballpark. I just have big reservations about the starting power forward position. The only person on the team who might be capable of handling that position at some point is J.J. Hickson, but how long will it take, if ever, for that to occur?

The pre-trade team blew.  The cavs would not have beaten Washington last year without that deal.  Other than that good post.
