Hey guys, I'm back again and this is just another post with a bunch of news and quotes from everywhere. Here's a bunch of stuff i found about JJ Hickson. Some things about JJ going on in the news and what people are saying: Great Blog/Article with a lot of detail, quotes, & sources about JJ Hickson: http://mvn.com/nba-cavaliers/2008/08/15/jj-hickson-the-skys-the-limit/
JJ Hickson was working recently with an instructor that also has trained Chris Paul, Raymond Felton, Marvin Williams & other NBA Players: http://heraldsun.southernheadlines.com/opinion/columnists/mccann/62-988456.cfm?
ESPN Analyst thinks JJ Hickson can possibly make some type of impact this season: http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/basketball/fba/story?page=nbadk2k9_rookies
"On possible positivein that area could wind up being rookie J.J. Hickson, an active, athletic forward out of NC State that the Cavs nabbed in the draft this spring. He's a little raw, but he offers more of an offensive look than Ben Wallace does at the four, and he certainly has more spring in his step.": http://www.tsn.ca/nba/story/?id=248765

Yea me too. Its very rare that you find a lot of the tools that JJ Hickson already has in his game. Think about it:

Im excited in a sense that Hickson if not the same, but better, he could be another version of lets say Carloos Boozer. Yet Hickson's game looks alot more promising to the cavs of now, then to the cavs of 02-03 with Boozer just because that we play more physical, and gritty than the cavs of past. During then, we played quite faster because of the system and players we had on that team. What im saying is that I seem more convinced with Hickson of now than Boozer when we drafted him. |

Id like t see how Hickson would do in someone like Beasley's position. Starting for a bad team.
But even though hes just 19, theres no reason he cant have a huge season. He just wont get huge minutes. He could easily have a huge season in comparison to the minutes he gets. But if he does well his minutes will go up.
Hickson's play will determine if we trade for another big man. Im hoping we dont need to do that. |

I think he'll struggle in the area of defense...commiting fouls....and free throw shooting.
Some people also pointed aout that he was a bit tunover prone in Summer League...I hope he cleans that up. He was the feature of our offense and pretty much being the last option when he finally gets PT (unless its garbage time)...I think he'll clean the turnovers up.
I see his defense improving as the season goes on though. Here's a guy who has a defensive head coach with Ben Wallace to hep mentor him in that area. I can pretty much hear it from the commentators now: "Looks like the rookie has taken a few pointers from the veteran teamate Ben Wallace"
JJ will be fine..he has all the ingredients on THIS team to be VERY successful in the NBA.
Another good thing is..it seems as if Ferry/MB is behind him...so he should get PT and cotriibute positively...theres no pressure on him whatsoever...and thats a good thing too.
He's a guy I'm really looking forward to this upcoming season...JJ and Kinsey |
