Yes I agree. L-train mentioned a similar scenario earlier in another thread. They should experiment with this in preseason.

I can say with 100% confidence, that Sasha is NOT the ideal SG........he sucks.

Eh, I really don't think you want LeBron being our FT SG.  The energy required to match up on defense to smaller wing players all game would kill him.  I think that is just asking for trouble.  LeBron's D, which has become yet another strong point in his game over these past couple seasons, is best utilized against SF's.  Yes, he can occassionaly, for spurts, guard just about anyone in this league.  But, ideally, I think it's best left to someone else to try and chase SG's all over the court.

Sasha would be the ideal SG if he could shoot, dribble, pass, defend, learn the playbook, and actually become a cohesive part of the team while he's on the court.

But he can't really do any of them with any type of consistency.

I've been saying since the Mo Williams acquisition that our shooting guard just needs to be a good role player. Not like a Vince Carter, but more like a Raja Bell. All our two guard has to do is spread the floor with the three-point threat, and be able to defend the other' team's perimeter stud. A guy like Raja Bell would be great.

Yes.

Bell is getting old tho, and I don't think Phoenix would get rid of him anyways.

What we need to do, like I said already, is Trade Wally for Larry straight up.  I know people hate him here and stuff, but he would be the ideal 2-guard for our current lineup.

Larry is a good fit for us now, but not a great fit.

The problem with him is he still demands the ball and wants to get his and because of this, he will get upset and ruin the team's chemistry.  There is only one ball, and I have a feeling that Lebron, Mo, and Z are going to get their touches.  That only leaves the 2 and the 4 as outlets for busted plays.

The ideal player would be someone like a Bowen.  He is going to defend the other team's best player and hit an open shot every once in a while.  He's not going to complain about "not getting his."  This is very rare for a 2 guard.

Larry could work, but he's already killed our team chemistry once.  I wouldn't take that chance again if I was Ferry.

I'm sticking to my guns with this until it is proven other wise.  I really think we have the ideal guy on our team in Kinsey.  He will not win the starting job, but I think once he starts settling in, he will end up being our guy.  In this lineup, we do not necessarily need an offensive minded 2.  We need a guy who will lock down the other teams best opposing wing man.  Kinsey is absoltely capable of being that guy and is the only one that fills the role of defensive stopper.  Not to mention, he has enough athleticism and skill to put the ball in the bucket occasionaly, too.
Having a guy like Kinsey, who will not need constant help on D, is not only a benefit to the rest of the guys on D, but for LeBron's offense, as well.  If LeBron can concentrate on guarding 3's and 4's, he'll have much more energy as games, and the season, wear on.
As for now, I think our best option is Delonte, even though I don't think he's going to be given a fair shot.  I think MB likes him off the bench.  But, his scrappiness on D more than makes up for his height.
Sasha is...well....Sasha.  The mental half for Sasha always seems to be his eventual downfall.  It's what leads to all those ridiculous shots, poor ball handling, being out of place, etc.  Not to mention, MB likes to say he is athletic, but to me, his feet look like they get planted in concrete half the time...very slow.

I personally think the ideal situation is to start Pavlovic, but only if he can return to playing the way he did in the 06-07 season.  He can handle himself on defense in this system and did fine on defense last year.  It was his shot that went missing last season.  Hopefully being in camp this season will get him off to the right track again.  Pavs is good enough on the defensive end, if he can get back to shooting around 40% for 3pt he will end up our starting SG.

With Pavs starting, I'm sure we'll still see some of West at SG.

This...

Out of the players we have now, Pavs is probably the best fit.

Out of anyone, Joe Johnson would be the best fit and G. Wallace would be pretty nice too.

Larry would be okay, but we could really use someone who  draws the defense out. Like how the Lakers use Radmanovich, or the Spurs use Bowen. With LeBron and Mo being good slashers, we need to keep the defense from sagging, and if the defense does collapse, we need someone who can knock down an open 3.
