a good example of winning a championship and getting respect last year when new england went 16-0 in the season because they did not win a championship they did not get the respect of the media of having a perfect season

The Cavs are definitely earning respect with their wins, although maybe not the type(s) though. I mean, we get no credit pretty much unless it is against another elite team. Those are pretty much our losses, but I believe that we can "fix" those, it's just that those teams aren't necessarily on our schedule right now. That aside though, we SHOULD get respect for dominating the teams that we do as well as being the best home team in the NBA now. |

Ur the one turning this place into Cavs fans gone wild. Shame on you:) And by the way, I agree completely with you about W's = Respect Godfather. Cant start being known as a dynasty until we have 2 titles under our belt in 2 or 3 years so in the meantime take what you hear on the sports shows with a grain of salt and know that if ever we had a team that was title worthy, this is it.

One of the things I like most about the Cavs is their attitude. Everyone has the same one - they just want to get better and win. They don't care about the media or whether or not they get respect or not.
I think we fans could all take a page out of their book. WHO CARES if we get no respect?
In fact we haven't really done anything extraordinary yet. We haven't had a really tough schedule. I'm not entirely sold on the offense because I still don't think it is entirely fluid when LeBron is in the game. There's still a LOT to prove and there is still a LOT to IMprove as well.
In the meantime, lets enjoy our wins against crummy teams and continue to fly under the radar. We are a hard-nosed team. That's our identity. |

Even if we go 79-3, if Boston and LA are close(within 10 games), they get the respect, and the calls. We have to just know that we're good, and be re-assured by fellow cleveland fans, not espn. We'd have to beat Boston by thirty and LA by forty, and even then they'd go, "Yeah, Cleveland is solid this year, lebron's playing well, looks like Boston had an off night. We're going to break right now, but stay tuned and when we get back we'll show you the shocking comments Kobe uttered last week after a bad loss to Cleveland".

first of all we do get respect. you can see it in the power rankings, and i believe tim cowlishaw and woody paige gave us lots of love on around the horn today.
Lets look at the games that we have lost:
Boston, Game 1, in Boston: Game one of the season in boston, right after the ring ceremony. we were playing a lineup to test and see what would work. sasha and wright played a combined 23 minutes, and contributed a combined 9 points. celtics were fired up, and they wanted to play well on their first home game of the season for their fans. the final score of that game was 90-85. we only lost by 5 to the defending champs on a celebratory night, with a sketchy lineup. it made sense that we would lose, but besides that it was a neccessary game to figure things out because we didnt have the same chemistry then as we do now. Outlook: give us the celts at home on Jan. 9th. with our chemistry, and the momentum that we have at home, we will win by 15. book it.
New Orleans, Game 3, in New Orleans: The Hornets with their first home game of the year looked pretty good. as a team with high expectations for the year they were going to bring it at home for the fans. a W over the cavs was a statement game for the to let everyone know they still got it. as in boston our lineup wasnt perfect, and because it was only the third game of the season we were still finding our chemistry. also we were in that game until the fourth quarter when the hornets shot 7-12 from the field and 8-10 from the stripe, out scoring us 31-20. we lost by 12 our largest of the season. Outlook: Watching 4 or 5 games of the hornets it is clear that they do not respect Byron Scott. they ignore him during timeouts and when they are checking into the game. i think hollinger wrote about this in one of his PER Diems, not sure though. we only play NO one more time this season, Jan. 16th at home. with a worse record than expected the Hornets have not been playing as well as they should be. we will be leading the league at that point with a record of 34-3 (i may be being a little biased, but we will be around 30 wins at that point. just look at our schedule! its cake!) and on a unbelievable tear. Cavs by 17. book it.
Detroit, Game 12, in Detroit: Just after the AI CB trade. Detroit always plays us tough because of what we did to them in the ECF in 07. they have a lot of young talent that will only get better. we were on the second night of a road trip, playing in NJ the night before. the players probably did not get off the plane in detroit probably til after 2am, hence they would be tired after playing a game and traveling. we lost the game in the second half after going up by 11 in the first half. Pistons shot 8% better than us from the field, and we got too tired in the second half. we only lost by 7. Detroit was also on three days rest at that point, and began to stabalize their chemistry (not by much though) with AI in the line-up. basically we were just tired. Outlook: the next game against the pistons is on Feb second in Detroit. this will be a challenge, but i dont think at that point detroit will be that close to us standings wise, so not to worry. i still think we will win because it is an afternoon game, and does anyone remember the last time we lost one of those. both teams will be on 1 day of rest, and the cavs will want to get it done against the divison rival. we will win by 9. book it.
Looking at our losses, things dont seem that bad. these three teams have a combined record of 39-14. thats not too shabby. so we have lost to some of the best teams, on their home opener, and on the second straight night of a road trip. our chemistry is way up, and we have so much momentum. remember all of these games were away. nobody can beat us at home, and i expect that to continue throughout the entire season. we have already one ten at home, almost 1/4th of our home games. i bet we go 36-6 at home this year. Now lets look at some of the teams we have beaten. Dallas by 19, in Dallas. Denver by 11 at home. Utah by 12 at home. Atlanta by 14 at home.
The question here is respect, right? well let me tell you the cavs are getting respect. an elite nba team wins at home, and has a winning record on the road. we have both. and elite team has a top defense, and a top offense. we have both. (off. eff. #1, def. eff. #5. if you didnt know.) an elite team beats the teams they are supposed to beat. we have, and soundly i might add.
we have respect. book it.
