    09-10 Season of Dreams: October

Tuesday, November 3, 2009, 03:50 PM EST [General]

Wuddup Fanatics! My inaugural season as a proud season ticket holder is off and running, and what a start it's been!  After seeing More Than A Game with fellow MVPs, I was eager for the preseason games to start! It was great just to be back in the Q, and I got to enjoy the games with some good friends and fanatics.  I'm slowly becoming a staple in the Team Shop, which is both a blessing and a curse!  I've already spent about a quarter of what my two seats cost me for the entire season, and we've only had two home games! AHHHH! I need to work a second job just to support my Cavs gear addiction!

Most of the preseason games were fun but laid back, giving me time to walk around the Q, get used to where my seats were in relation to the most important places (i.e. bathrooms, beer stand, Team Shop of course, haha).  The Olympiakos game was far from laid back though, there were so many Olympiakos fans there waving flags and chanting it almost felt like a road game.  I hope we were good embassadors for any people who were in Cleveland for the first time, although I know how heated the forums got over "Baby Shaq" and the gang coming into town.  Of course I ran into Cliff before one of the games too, probably the most dedicated Cavs Fan I've ever met.  I'm hoping to one day lay eyes on his collection of team apparel, which from his wife's description has no rival.  I watched one preseason game with 216Ant and his wife and daughter, who is inarguably the cutest baby on the planet.  She cheers for the team too, and from the sound of it, a future Scream Team member in the making!  The Cavalier Girls seemed to be running a skeleton crew of only a few girls a night, but I might've just not been able to see them all from my seats up in the Fanatic Addicts section, haha.  Either way they were more than ready for opening night!

Opening Night vs. our hated rival the Boston Celtics was awesome!  Took Candice2.0 (proud owner of the WITNESS garage) and we had a blast.  The atmosphere was electric, and the crowd was in near-playoff game form.  It was SO loud in loudville, but when we went home and watched the game (yeah, we re-watched the game, lol), it didn't seem as loud on TNT as it did in person.  Must be due to microphone placement or something, cuz I swear it was as loud as a playoff game.  Much kudos goes to the Video folks down at the Q!  The opening intro vid is one for the ages, and you MUST make it to your seats before it begins when you go to a game. Of course the pyrotechnics always help make it sweet, and a new song (My Time by Fabolous) gets the crowd PUMPED! I just listened to it and got goosebumps again, haha.  We had dinner at Bar Symon with fellow fanatic CFPPF, and it was delectable! I highly suggest the Pork Pastrami sandwhich and Lola Fries, but I think I want to try out the BSpot next.  Of course, losing the opener kinda put a damper on things, but overall it was a great time.

Of course the only other game that month was our first CavFanatic night of the season!  We had a Halloween party at the Hard Rock Cafe beforehand, and nearly 100 fanatics and their families/significant others showed up for the festivities!  Ahmaad and Nicole swung by (sans costumes..GRRR!!!), and former Cav (and current Fanatic) Jim Chones and his wife dropped in to say hello and to sample some of the awesome food we had to choose from (I personally liked the spicy chicken nuggets best).  A highlight for me was when Mr. Chones said that he reads my blogs and that I'm a good writer! I almost passed out!  Candice2.0 won the prize for best costume, and what a prize it was: two suite tickets to that evening's game!  I was lucky enough to accompany her, and boy lemmie tell you, them suites ain't no joke! We had free food and drinks, and each seat in our suite had a big gift bag from Olympia Candies full of chocolate covered goodness!  Jen from the Cavs was kind enough to let us take a few extras that were left behind after the game, probably in an effort to get us to leave, lol.  We even brought the Birthday Boy of the evening CFPPF in the suite for the fourth quarter to check it out too, much love to the security guard who allowed us to do that (hope we don't get u in trouble!).  The return of Delonte West was spectacular, and we were treated to some awesome team play and unselfishness that led to highlight reel plays.  We didn't want it to end, and it was probably the best game experience I've ever had (and that's saying a lot!).

So yeah, although we started out rough by losing the opener, and the next game after that (ugh), it was great to see us get back on track with a solid win against the Bobcats after beating the TWolves on the road.  Its a long season though, and I'm hoping we can string together a few wins and start working on our team chemistry.  We do have quite a few new faces, and we've seen in the past how difficult that can be, as well as how important court time in real games is to the gelling process.  Tonight we're back in the saddle at home vs. the Wizards (and its also Fathead tradeable player pack giveaway night!).  Stay tuned for the next installment of my S.O.D. blog!  And if u see me at the Q, holla atcher boi!

09-10 Season of Dreams: More Than A Ticket

Friday, October 2, 2009, 02:35 AM EST [General]

Wuddup Fanatics.  My first year as a season ticket holder is so close I can taste it! Actually, I can now feel it!  Last week I got my Season Ticket Holder package in the mail.  Exuberant just begins to describe the feeling when I read I had a package from One Center Court.  I quickly ripped open the side and pulled out a box the size of a large book, adorned with pictures of the arena scoreboard, flames spewing out of each corner.  All For One, One For All it read above, and at the bottom: 2009-2010 Season and Playoff Tickets.  Playoffs?  You wanna talk about playoffs?!?! haha, my "Mora moment" nonwithstanding, it was cool to think about what this postseason is going to be like, but first things first.

Inside the box were two books, about a quarter inch thick each, with page after page of game tickets.  I got Flash Seats set up after these were ordered, so while they're voided tickets, it will make an awesome memento.  (EDIT: If you received paper tickets and wish to set up Flash Seats instead, you must return the paper tickets in order to load your seats onto your Flash Seats account!)  I can only hope it gains a quarter of the popularity as our beloved Dawg Pound, but I think many people are already regretting not getting in on such a sweet deal.

The package also contained a letter thanking me for becoming a season ticket holder from Cavs President Len Komoroski.  If it wasn't written in Comic Sans, I would frame this puppy.  I might have to scan it and retype it in Times or Helvetica, but thats just the font nerd in me, hehe.  Moving on, there were four or five pocket schedules, six 20% off coupons for the Team Shop along with my MVP keychain card that I can use to get my discount (I've spent way too much there this summer, I swear the Team Shop will be my downfall this year, and I already have tons of Cavs gear).  Also included was a coupon for four free tickets to a Monsters game!  Bonus, eh?

A few weeks ago I got an email informing me of an exclusive screening of LeBron's new movie, More Than A Game at the Valley View Cinemark on Thursday, October 1st.  I took fellow Fanatic Candice with me, who is a HUGE Cavs and a LeBron fan (in case u didn't know).  We both got MTAG shirts to wear for the occasion.  The Cavs were raffling off some awesome prizes including a LeBron autographed pair of shoes, and autographed LeBron jersey, an auto'd Mo Williams jersey and an auto'd team basketball!  Donating two canned goods got you one entry, and you could enter up to ten times.  Obviously we brought forty plus cans, as did nearly everyone else.  Winners won't be announced until Sunday the fourth, but I'll update this blog when one of us wins something. :D

They played the film on 13 theaters, and from the looks of the parking lot after it let out, there must've been a thousand or more people there to see it.  Also included with the free tickets were two tickets for a free pop and popcorn.  We saw Moondog right away, and he uh...gave me a warm welcome!  Ahmaad took a picture of us, and I got a pic with Toni (haha CurtyCurt) and Sherry, two of our lovely and talented Cavalier Girls.  Saw fellow fanatic Cliff there too, if you've been to a fanatic night you've seen him.  Another huge fan.  Wanted to just hang out outside the theater and meet other fans, but they had already begun to seat people, so we followed suit.

Moondog made another appearance inside our theater, and the crowd was pumped for the film.  LeBron came on screen first, welcoming us to Valley View Cinemark and thanking us for seeing this movie that means so much to his family and friends.  The crowd went nuts.  We are so hungry for the season to start.

It was an awesome movie, which documents the "Fab Four" of Dru Joyce III, LeBron James, Sian Cotton and Willie McGee, their growth as 8th grade AAU players into SVSM superstars, Romeo Travis' tumultuous entry into their clique, and eventual Senior Year triumph as State and National Champs.  Dru Joyce II, who coached his son and his friends throughout their experiences, gives great insight into what these kids went through, both on the court and off.  The videos of them clowning around, and the game footage were highlights.  I don't want to go into too much details, but it was a great film which I highly recommend.

After the movie, we exited out the upstairs door, which put us at the rear of the building.  After a short walk around to the front, we saw two big SUV's from DefJam wrapped in More Than A Game Soundtrack graphics, and people with MTAG rally towels!  Why did we go out the back!  After scouring both the inside and outside of the theater, we found there to be none left.  All that remained was a box of mini movie posters, so we snagged up a few more.  I approached a man who opened the rear door of an SUV and asked him if they had any more towels left.  He said no, they'd gone through 900 within a few minutes and were all out.  What a bummer.  As avid collectors of free Cavs stuff, we were deeply saddened.

We took a few pics of the trucks, and I felt a tap on my shoulder.  It was the same man, and he held out towels for the both of us.  SWEET!  I thanked him profusely, and even had our picture taken with him.  Lenny Berry is the man!  Thanks again!  His co-worker Jennifer Ragin took our pic, and then asked if I would say a few words about the movie on video.  Unfortunately I'll probably never see it, since they're just used for in-house viewing, but I was happy to oblige.  By this time the parking lot had cleared out, so we finally left.  A great time for sure.

Preseason starts on Tuesday! I'm so pumped its digusting! Can't wait to shake off the rust, find a good place to park, get into a routine, etc.  Counting down the days until our showdown with the Celts on the 27th!  Stay tuned for moar lolcavs too!  Here's a media day preview!

2009-10: My Season of Dreams (pt.1)

Monday, August 10, 2009, 02:59 PM EST [General]

Wuddup Fanatics?!  If you're anything like me, you're salivating at the thought of this upcoming season!  Shaq?!?! SRSLY!  Plus Jamario Moon and AP!!!  We're going to have a very special year no doubt.

This season will be extra special for yours truly: I made the leap and purchased season tickets for the first time!  Of course I had to get them in the newly formed "Fanatic Addicts" section (I got the first pair sold, I'm just sayin...haha).  Excitement doesn't begin to describe how I'm feeling as this summer slips away and we near the start of camp and the preseason.  Adrenaline spikes abound when I think about that Oct. 27th game vs. Boston, and hearing Ahmaad introduce Shaquiiiiiiillllle O'Neeeeeeaaaaaall!!!! *pauses to run around my office in joy*

Ok, but like I was saying, this is going to be an awesome year.  I'm going to be taking different friends/fanatics to the games (could you be one of the lucky ones?), and I'll be blogging about my "freshman year" as a season ticket holder as often as I can (or as often as people want to hear about it).  I hope a few fellow "Addicts" chime in from time to time as we meet and get acquainted as well.  I'm sure we'll have official CavFanatic nights as well, so keep your eyes out for stickied announcements in Team Talk regarding those.  If you've never been to one, you're missing out!  And yes, Lol Cavs will make several appearances here as well!

So on that note (since I'm more pumped than ever!), I'll keep you posted!!!

    GO CAVS!!!

Lol Cavs : ECF Edition - Orlando

Monday, June 8, 2009, 10:38 PM EST [General]

It's with a heavy heart that I bring you the last installment of Lol Cavs for this season.  I was so looking forward to a Lakers Lol Cavs, but it wasn't meant to be.  I wasn't even going to do Lol Cavs, for I was too angry/sad/frustrated to even log on to CavFanatic for awhile, and just wanted to forget about the entire season.  But thanks to a profile message from UnderDogger, and this picture message from Candice, I was inspired to give it my all one last time.

Before I get to the goods, I want to take a moment to thank all of you for reading and commenting on my blogs throughout the season.  I'm glad so many of you have gotten a chuckle or two out of them, I know I've LMAO a few times too.  Special thanks to inkling for her help on the lolspeak and other terms (Mana ftw).  Ryz, CFPPF, Curt, Candice, LeKing James, Dogger, Marcus, Udilicious, Eddie, Manders, Rachel, Toya, Paula and anyone else who left comments.  Thanks to SuzeB for bumping my threads, and for being such a big fan (she has a custom Lol Cavs wallpaper!)  Big ups to the photographers who took all these photos, and thanks for not suing me for using them! (If I ever make a Lol Cavs book, I'll be sure to hook you all up with free copies! haha)

So here goes, one last time!
