Greetings from the dirty south, or as the residents on the southern east city on coast call it - Charleston. I spent my weekend learning about the history of Charleston, eating great food (grouper) and sitting on the amazing back patio, with my little lady, at the Blind Pig.
But the highlight of the weekend was the adventure and excitement of the Cavs vs Bobcats game. First let me tell you about the fun prior to the game before I tell you how the Cavs and bobcats played.
Friday night model girlfriend and I drive down to Charleston... had a great dinner, drank a brew-ha, etc. Saturday afternoon while watching the Ohio State game we decide to call Ticketmaster about buying seats. I didn't purchase them in advance thinking I could save $5 at the box office - more details about this to come. So I call them and they say the game is sold out. WHAT!@#!?! Yeah right?!? So we decided to roll up early to the box office to pick up tickets.... Yeah, the guy on the phone didn't lie. Still sold out!! You've got to be kidding me?!, Rusnak said to model girlfriend. SOLD OUT preseason game in Charleston! Needless to say I wasn't happy. So since we were still two hours before game time, we hit up Buffalo Wild Wings.. an Ohio U favorite, to polish off a "drown my sorrows but still determined to find tickets" beer. I asked two not-lovely ladies at the bar if they had seen extra tickets. What made them not-lovely weren't their physical features but their "leave me alone, I never wanted to talk to you on the first place" attitudes. Yeah - they sucked at life. So no tickets at the bar...
Long story short is we found a scalper with two tickets - got in - and got to see an awesome game. The good people of Charleston now have a few KeepBronBron.com flyers and the two ladies at the bar still didn't take a flyer when we ran into them the second time that night. Yeah - they sucked at life. AND - they had on Lebron jerseys. Disappointing.
So the game recaps:
You know why it was sold out? Because 97% of the crowd was cheering for the Cavs and mostly, Shaq and Lebron. It was a home game in the dirty south for the Cavs. I imagine maybe only 20% of those Lebron backing fans would be able to find Cleveland on a map and ordered their Cavs jersey from NBA.com... but hey, we'll take Cavs fans anyway we can. Sorry, if that sounded mean..
So anyways, my game notes of the night. J.J. Hickson - looking raw, powerful and ready for the season. Great shinning light for the Cavs bigs. Shaq and Lebron - playing on the court together but something about it is still weird shinny and new. Shaq does his thing in the post. Lebron slashes and takes women's breath away but I still need them to play together more to believe they'll work out okay together. Don't get me wrong - I'm 99% sure this will be a great marriage and a championship season. Other notes: Boobie is shooting amazing and was running the show the majority of the second half. AP is looking long and strong but I'd like to see better defense from him. Z looks really weird in the second lineup. I almost don't like it because it's unnatural. And my "oh bother moment of the night" - sorry to say but Cobe doesn't look ready for the (NBA) court yet. I'm not sure he'll make the squad... but I wish him the best of luck in the journey.
All and all a good night in the Cavs Southern Home Court. Stay tuned for more sports blogs at www.KeepBronBron.com
