    Snuggies from Moondog (video)

Saturday, March 6, 2010, 09:23 PM EST [General]

Congrats to Cavalier Fans for being apart of history last night, entering the Guiness Book of World Records for wearing Snuggies.

I tried to help out by giving fans Snuggies before the game....only to find out I had no idea what the promotion was all about.  Let's just say most fans would prefer the Cavs marketing geniuses version of this promotion over mine.

Big thanks to N8 from the video crew for his timely and expert help on this project.

Needless to say I am reading the fine print on the next couple promotions.

And while it's not "Webster's", according to the Urban Dictionary I am not wrong:

    snuggy

Another term for a "wedgie" or "melvin" that was commonly used in the '70's, to describe what happens when your shorts get pulled up into the crack of your butt.

    I am so thirsty

Wednesday, February 10, 2010, 10:38 PM EST [General]

The long hard slog is almost over.  I speak of the homestand, not the Afghanistan war.  It's been a great run and impressive on a lot of levels.  Running the table without Mo and Delonte is stunning, but a testiment to the team and our home court advantage.  I was thinking the other day about how much talk there was in the fall of 2003 when LeBron was just warming up.  A lot of people wondered if he would play point guard in the NBA.  For a guy who is built more like Karl Malone than Coby Karl, that talk seems bizarre.  Then you look at the assist numbers and realize that he probably could, kinda does....and wonder more about what point guard would have any chance to guard him.

I stripped him down and found no toy supriseIn photo news, I need to apologize for dropping the ball on 2 of the last 3 games with our game photo sets.  I would blame Animal Control, but it's hard for them to take good photos when I leave either the camera or the memory card at the dog house.  To get you through the day I offer you a link to My Personal Favorites Galllery which now has 100 photos.  Lots of great memories for me, I hope you enjoy (and forget about the last couple games).  You can see photos of me with a wide range of gorgeous ladies (it is my favorites) and this cracker jack.

The Super Bowl was great this year.  Now the the Saints have won in 2010 I think that clears the path for us this spring (and the Cubs next fall) for a nice trifecta of the overdue.

Big props to Qtv Editor/Shooter and Smootdown Wrestling Champion Scott Smoot for pounding out not one award-winning, but TWO award-winning Super Bowl spoof commercials.  The awards are pending, but also overdue (it's been a full day).  For the Nets game we made sure fans knew that Sly the Fox (Nets mascot) wasn't the only NBA mascot in a commerical.  And I didn't have to listen to Charles Barkey doing bad poetry in mine.

We have another one for the Orlando game.  I understand that videos are better when you see them (not read about them)...so I will try to get them posted shortly.  This one from a couple years ago is still my favorite, and not just because I got to french kiss Ahmaad.

Finally, don't forget to follow me on Twitter (@cavsmoondog).  Other than getting instant updates on all my brain wanderings (limited to 140 characters) you can win stuff.  First, I always tip you off for the @cavs Tweetstakes that I am involved with....but second, I occasionally decide not to sling shirts to random fans, but to hand deliver shirts to my tweeps.  Be one of those people.....your odds are so much better (just ask Alexa).

That's it.  See you when we shut down Vince and beat the Magic tomorrow night....and I promise photos.

I am thirsty for a homestand sweep.

    50 Hours of the Dog

Saturday, February 6, 2010, 02:54 PM EST [General]

So in the last 50 hours, this is what we have accomplished:

Thursday Night: Win over the hated Miami Heat, inlcuding JJ Hickson posterizing DWade.

Friday: We started things off with a stop at Case Western Reserve University for Give a Kid a Smile Day, where kids get some free dental work (and in turn smile).  I typically like to Give Kids a Smile everyday, but this day of dental care for Kids is once a year at Case Western Reserve University.  It's a great event.  (See the Photo Gallery)

Next me, Ahmaad, and the Scream Team put on our big show at St. Marks Elementary....I am pretty sure we all had a great time.  (See the Photo Gallery)

And we wrapped up the day at the Cavs Practice Facility where I was a special guest for our Community Relations Department....until I became a minor footnote in the day's events when none other than LeBron James walked into the room.  He was awesome getting these kids excited and inspired to stay Fit as a Pro. (See the Photo Gallery)

Saturday:  At 8am we visited the 8th Annual Tackle the Tower (my 5th). It was a success despite a little snow getting in the way.  Thanks to Slider for helping out with a video skit that is due to air later this month.  I finished the 37 floors in a little under 12 mins (slower than my previous mascot record of 10 mins). (See the Photo Gallery)

Tonight:....now I am on my way to the Q for the big game against Nate Robinson and several other inconsequential Knickerbockers which I expect to be a big win.

It's a big game for me personally, since it is my 300th game as the Official Mascot of the Cavaliers....moving me into the #1 all-time spot for the team.  Whammer threw in the towel at game 299.

Following the game I plan to sleep in until Tuesday.  I hope there is nothing good on TV that I will miss tomorrow.

    Dewclaws Up/Down for January 2010

Tuesday, January 26, 2010, 11:03 PM EST [General]

I will try this again.  After about an hour of writing last night I lost all my prose in a page refresh and I had to start over.  No matter how spectacular this blog is, I recall the first version being better.

Back to another exciting edition of Dewclaws Up/Dewclaws Down from the number one dog mascot for an NBA team in NE Ohio.

    Let's get right to it.

    Dewclaws Up to Guys

Not guys the gender, but Guys (capitalized).  LeBron has a Guy, Shaq has a Guy....I actually don't know what's in the job description, but I do know I want one.  Randy is LeBron's Guy and from what I can tell he's one of the Top Guys in the Guy business.  I think mystery is part of the gig, so the fact I am not 100% sure what he does proves he's really really good at it.

The fact that LBJ and Shaq are the only players on the Cavs with Guys also means you have to be a top top player to secure a Guy....or actually maybe you only get to be a top top player once you find a Guy.  Either way....I need one.

Now that I think about it, do you know any Guys who aren't fantastic?  I mean the only Guys I know are the aforementioned Guys and Guy Smiley, who is charasmatic, handsome, winsome and charming.  All things I will be looking for in my Guy.

I am taking applications.  I talked to HR about this and I am told I need to accept applications from men and women, regardless of how awkward that potentially could be.  "Guys, I'd like to you meet my new Guy...Allison."

Either way, a big Dewclaw up to Guys.

Apperantly I am not the first to eye this trend....the Cavs Marketing Geniuses already have a Guys Night Out.  I might stop by in hopes of finding the right Guy.  I am not sure I would build a marketing initiative around trying to draw in 2 Guys who will already be at the game and a puppet....but they know best.

Dewclaws Down to Hall of Famer Voters (in baseball)

Not giving Bert Blyleven the Hall nod makes me give you voters a dewclaw down.  Bert dominated, even while playing on imperfect teams.  His curve ball defined the pitch for 20 years and he might deserve a bronze bust just for his work as a TV announcer.  Whether it be his revolutionary "Circle me Bert" or his introduction of new words to broadcasting (you can YouTube that), Bert dominates the airwaves like he dominated diminutive right-handed hitting shortstops.

    Better luck next year Bert....

    Dewclaws Up to Pinque

If you didn't notice, the Scream Team is a huge pile of talent.  It's also all dudes, except for one young lady named Pinque (the pretty one in the bunch).

Dewclaws up to her for having the strength and courage to mix it up with the boys every night and to always stand out while always fitting it.  She rocks it.

    Dewclaws Up to Outdoor Hockey

The Winter Classic is the best thing to happen to hockey since the hot dog eating alligator.  I love seeing this New Year's Day game and look forward it every year.  Here's hoping the Monsters consider taking a game outdoors next year, perhaps when the hated Albany Patroons are in town.....That would teach them.

    Dewclaws Down to Drum Thiefs

Yes, some knucklehead stole my drum a few games ago.  Neat.  Have you ever stolen a collar off a dog?  It's not hard, so a big dewclaw down to the master thief who managed to lift my drum (that I leave laying around all the time since I trust the Cavs faithful).

I have spent the last few games with a back-up and have a replacement coming this week....which then I have to customize so it sounds just right.

In the mean time, some chowder head is in his basement rooting for the Jets banging his drum and irritating his neighbors.  I wish you well in your next caper:  Stealing Slider's mitt.

Dewclaws Up to Pants on The Ground

Catchy tune, easy to dance to.

Dewclaws Down to the NFL Pro Bowl

There is everything wrong with this.

Players don't want to play in it.  I don't want to watch it.

So why are they doing this again?

    Dewclaws Up to Ahmaad

Congrats to Cavs Hype Man and Spelling Bee Champ Ahmaad for an All-Star invite.  Go make us proud....and bring me back some of those thick hotel towels.

    Dewclaws Down to Rewrites

The first version of this blog was much longer, funnier, and more interesting.  This one kind of peters out.

Next time I promise to save my first draft for you, my loyal readers.
