It's really a shame that we ditched Rise Up for One Goal....not that it's a better marketing slogan for the season (it's not), but the synergy between Rise Up and my Monday morning balloon ride to help promote the upcoming Pixar Movie UP would have been just too much to ignore.
I don't think you can be over the age of 4 and not thought about how many balloons you would have to have to lift you up and float you around the neighborhood. I always thought the number was between 220-228, but on Monday I found out the number was 65. 65 Balloons was enough to lift my svelt, rippling broad shoulders (and all the attached parts) high into the rarified air of the CSU Convocation Center. I felt totally convocated, which was surprising since I don't know what that means.
So here is the deal. To promote the movie this crew travels the country to find the biggest of the big media darlings to ride on a chair tethered to 65 giant helium balloons. As the award-winning blogger and resident media darling, of course they called me to partake. And partook I did.
Here are 38 photos documenting my total fearlessness.
It didn't take a free ride in a sweet lazy-boy chair 80 feet into the air for me to want to see this flick....I am all in on May 29th (pending my playoff schedule) to see this movie. I love all the Pixar stuff and this one sounds to be an instant classic.
Perhaps I will break new ground and give a full movie review here in my award-winning blog when I see UP later this month. I had thought about reviewing Star Trek which I enjoyed on Sunday Night.....but I am still trying to make sense of it. There was a time/space continum break, which altered the lives of some of the crew, until they re-entered the black hole 25 years later, which was only a short time for people on the other side of the black whole, and then the young Captain Kirk who never met his dad, met an old Spock who had been put on an ice planet 25 years in the past by Nemo, and later new Spock met old Spock who decided not to say "Live Long and Prosper" to young Spock since it would have been self-serving (and appearantly anti-Vulcan). Oh and Uhura and young Spock are a couple.....which might have been more confusing than the previous plot summary.
As I said, I opted out of the review, since it all doesn't quite make sense to me. Then I was told that the guy who directed this also directs LOST. Oh. Now it all makes sense....in a nonsensicle way.
Finally, 2 declaws up for movie popcorn.
