    Broadview Heights Boneyard Watch Party

Monday, May 11, 2009, 05:47 PM EST [General]

My Prom DateI wrapped my Saturday night up watching the Cavs go up 3-0 against the hated Hawks with 300 of my closest friends at the Broadview Heights Boneyard.

Normally in my award-winning blog I would go into depth about my encounters with the Cav-faithful, but the reality is....I can barely type, because I am so excited about tonight's watch party at the Mayfield Boneyard.  This dog barely has time to come down from one victory before I have to get fired up for another.

So, in the interest of getting out the photos and giving me time to get to the Mayfield Boneyard, I am just going to cut to the chase and put up over 100 photos from Saturday's event and move on.

Here are over 100 photos from Broadview Heights, including Ahmaad tenderly looking at the camera and a photo of some half eaten nachos.

See you tonight at the Mayfield Boneyard....I'll bring a broom just in case.

    Walking Makes Me Hungry

Monday, May 11, 2009, 12:17 AM EST [General]

Another Saturday and another opportunity to meet people who are passionate enought to wake early and march around for a cause....this week the place was Burke Airport and the Cause was Hunger.

I counted my blessings that I hit the walk on a partially full stomach and that over 2000 people joined me to help raise money and awareness at this year's Walk for Hunger.

The Doppler Guy predicts snowThe weather guy was there too, warning of an impending snowstorm.  All the walkers were relieved when the walk ended before the Blizzard of 2009 arrived.

Check out photos (and a sexy video of me Jazzercizing) from the 2009 Walk for Hunger

Saturday Mornings, H1N1, and Ice Cream Treats

Sunday, May 3, 2009, 12:11 PM EST [General]

It's likely you awoke Saturday morning wondering about a few things, like what's the status of that Swine Flu, has Mike Polk made more videos, and what is Moondog doing this morning?

In this addition of my award-winning blog I can answer one of those:

Swine Flu is no longer called Swine Flu (the pig lobby put up a fuss).  It's now H1N1 Flu.  Not as catchy, but not as debilitating for Pigs and Pig Lovers everywhere.  It's currently at Level 5 (of 6) Warning from the WHO (World Health Organiztion).  VP Joe Biden won't fly on or take the subway and the president joined my 2nd grade teacher suggesting we cough in our sleeves and wash our hands.

Here is a hot tip for young bloggers everywhere.  Over deliver and under promise.

I suggested I would answer one of those hot topics....and then BAM....Here I am over delivering with TWO.  If you aspire to win underpants journalism (blog) awards like I do (repeatedly) this is part of the program.

    I have said too much.

So what did I do on Saturday Morning?  In my role as an award-winning NBA mascot I have the opportunity to spend nearly every Saturday morning at a Walk/Run.  (see previous blogs Arthritis - Hydrocephalus)

These are great events and despite my love of sleep, make waking up early on Saturday mornings more than worthwhile.  They also enhance the value of coffee.

Me with a real HeroThis Saturday was a daily double.  I managed to squeeze in two Walks for the price of one.  Actually by the end of the day I participated in four races (see below)

I started the morning at the Cleveland Zoo shaking babies, kissing hands and getting people warmed-up for a 1 mile and a 5k walk.  This is a great event that continues to grow.  This year there were over 2000 people participating.

See photos from the Arthritis Walk.

After we got that race started, Ahmaad and I raced over to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the Diversity Center's Walk, Rock and Run.

See 70 photos from the Walk, Rock and Run, along with a video of me breaking it down with the drum line

Many photos feature me posing with a delicious ice cream treat.

I was catnip to this kidAfter completing those three races, I held my forth race back to my bed for a long nap.  While I like waking up early, still like my sleep....whenever I can get it.

A Week Off Makes the Mind Wander

Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 04:15 PM EST [General]

So a few days into this playoff hiatus, I found my mind wandering a bit.  Since my award-winning blog must move foward, there is no better way to synergize the wanderings than blogging.

--Why doesn't it work when I use bullet points in the CavFanatic Blog?
--I don't get Ashton Kutcher.  What is the manufactured fascination with this guy?  Demi Moore...yes I get it.  Ashton....um....you are not interesting in any way (other than how you landed Demi), you actually had a race around twitter postings with an octogenarian who I don't really think knows what the internet is (let alone twitter)....and your commericials are beyond dumb.  I don't get it (and please dont try to explain it to me, I have spent too much time already.)
--Is there one player more annoying than Ray Allen this year in the post-season?
--Here's hoping every other series in the East goes 7 games....I just love watching everynight and still being in the playoffs.
--If coming in contact with pigs transmits the Swine Flu, is there any hope for Kermit the Frog?
    --I liked the Browns draft.
--I am having some nightmares, based on this news story.

If I am wrong about Ashton Kutcher....I don't want to be right.

Sweeping up at Lakewood Winking Lizard

Sunday, April 26, 2009, 10:14 PM EST [General]

The setting:  The Bright Lights and Big Game Feel of the Winking Lizard in Lakewood on Sunday afternoon:

The Scoop:  I have blisters on my paws from working the broom all over the Lakewood Winking Lizard today.  There was a slight glitch as we were stuck watching the Celtics and Bulls in Overtime, but that was corrected.  For those of you who wisely switched right to the Cavs game, here is what happened in that Bulls/C's game after regulation:

    • --Ray Allen continued to act like a punk
    • --KG stuck out his chin and repeatedly mouthed something about my mom
    • --Ben Gordon kept hitting shots
    • --The Bulls won in 2OT and KG responded on the bench by mouthing something about my mom

Kate and Brittany hug their all-time most favorite mascotIn the end I don't care who wins that series, but if the Celtics do we really should get a microphone for Kevin Garnett.  It sure seems like he has a lot of insight from the bench and I think young basketball players would really benefit from a live feed of his thoughts during a game.

This might be a record, but Matt the Intern Seasonal Guy loved to take photos, so here are 61 photos from the Sweep Party.

In case you missed it and don't know what happened.....the Cavs sweep the Pistons out of round 1, beating the Pistons by 21.

If it sounds like things are ugly in Detriot....well they are.  And actually that has nothing to do with this series....but that's another award-winning blog.

I am looking forward to a nice relaxing week, watching the Heat and Hawks beat each other up.

One note about the Hawks....I have petitioned the league to have the Hawk mascot banned from the second round for his gross violations of mascot ettiquette.  No word from the league office, but I am sure my well-reasoned letter will hit home.

    See you in Round Two.
