I'm not mixing words on this one people. Let's just get to the point on this one. Tomorrow is Guys Nite Out presented by Arby's at the Cavs game. But this isn't like the other GNO's we've had in the past. For starters, Arby's thought that this year's GNO was gonna be so amazing, they are on board to present the 6 nights this year. Let's face it, right now..."you're thinking Arby's." See how that worked? Yeah, you still get a pre-game buffet, a Cavalier Girl calendar or Cavs t-shirt plus meet the Cavaliers Legends and Cavs Girls...but wait....there's more!
Brian Windhorst and ESPN's Chris Broussard will be on hand to for a special Q&A with GNO attendees TOMORROW ONLY. There is only one way to meet them and that is to buy a Guys Nite Out presented by Arby's ticket package for you and your friends. Ladies, you are more than welcome to attend too. Where else would you want to go to talk about basketball and meet guys than to a Cavs game? I rest my case.
Limited seats are left so click here and get your tickets. It all starts at 6:30pm tomorrow night. I'll be there...will you?
Ok, so today isn't known as this but it is "Election Day" (said in an answer voice with an echo effect). Regardless of who you are, you should get out and vote today. Your opinion matters and you do make a difference. Think I'm wrong? Ask Kokinis. Need another example? Watch how LeBron "elects" to go off on the Wizards tonight for his 26th career triple-double. Want another one? You want a third example? Did you say, "Yes on 3?" I thought you did. I'm chosing to end my blog right now.
Still have that bad taste in your mouth from last year? Do you still remember what it was like when the season ended so abruptly? Do you remember thinking to yourself, "I can't wait until next year"? Guess what...it's next year.
This is what we have waited for. As we enter into our 40th season, it is sure to be special. For the 20,562 in attendance tonight and the hundreds of thousands watching and listening to the game tonight from around the world (most importantly, YOU, our CavFanatics), if someone asks you why you are so excited for this season, kindly reply, "It's my time. "
Think home court isn't an advantage? Think again. The Q is one of the most difficult places for opposing teams to play...just ask the other GM's in the league.
NBA.com recently surveyed the league's 30 general managers on a variety of subjects. 11 of 29 general managers (37.9 percent) picked the Cavaliers #1 as having the best homecourt advantage in the NBA.
All 20,562 fans in The Q and the 15,000+ of you Fanatics make this possible. Keep it coming because we're going to need every one of you this year.
"Welcome back, Your dreams were your ticket out. Welcome back, To that same old place that you laughed about. Well the names have all changed since you hung around, But those dreams have remained and they're turned around."
As I planned how to welcome in the 40th season of Cavaliers basketball, I felt the pressure of doing something BIG. I would even say something XL (shameless marketing plug). But for some reason I kept coming back to the theme song from "Welcome Back, Kotter." Not the real one because, honestly, I wasn't born when it was on air. No, I'm referring to the one JD sang on Scrubs when Dr. Cox came back to the hospital. I thought about the lyrics and you know what? It fits for this season. The dreams we have for a title is our ticket out of this drought in Cleveland. We're back in that same old place that we laughed at and had so many great memories last season. The names have changed, obviously with our moves this off season, but that dream of a championship is now turning around into a reality for all of us. See how I tied that altogether?
It has been 4 long months that we have been without Cavaliers basketball and I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that that's too long. The off season was good to us. So as practice begins and the Wine & Gold Scrimmage grows near, let's give some "Welcome back" shout outs.
Welcome back, basketball...I love this game! (Sounds like this should be an advertising slogan for a pro-basketball league)
Welcome back, Shaq...now it's time to VS the 29 other teams in the NBA.
Welcome back, Delonte...'nuff said.
Welcome back, Vanilla Ice...yeah, he's still touring.
Welcome back, Backstreet Boys...yeah, they are releasing another album. You know what...I take this one back.
Welcome back, Derrick Anderson...as a Steelers fan, trust me, I am happy to see him at the helm rather than Brady.
Welcome back, CavFanatics...not all 15,000+ have been on the site since the end of the season so for all of you returning from your hiatus...good day to you!
Welcome back, Fall...this is my second favorite season, behind Spring of course.
Welcome back, Brett Favre...I don't really mean this. I just thought that since I am writing about something sports related, I am obligated to mention his name and that he is playing football...AGAIN.
Welcome back, Cavaliers Basketball...for the 40th season. We have missed you.
Welcome back to you, the CavFanatic reading my blog...thank you.
