Scream Team has become a second family to Fabs

Thursday, November 19, 2009, 10:13 AM EST [General]

    Hey Cav Fanatics!

It’s my first season, and I am loving every second of it! Dancing for the BEST NBA team out there has been such a dream come true! First, I would like to extend a HUGE THANKS to all the fans for continuing to support the Scream Team, Cavalier Girls and the rest of the game night entertainment family. One of the BEST parts of being a Scream Teamer is that I get to meet, interact, and perform in front of thousands of screaming fans while doing what I love to do the most: dancing! Old and young, I love the undying enthusiasm and love that flows from every fan when it comes to the Cavs!

Having the opportunity to be a Scream Team member is nothing short of a blessing. In fact, one of my favorite Scream Team moments is when I first received the deciding phone call, a day or so after the Scream Team auditions. I had been anxiously waiting all day for the call from Jami Taylor, the Dance Team Coordinator, to bring the news of whether or not I had made the team. When she called, I rushed to the phone and listened earnestly as she told me my fate. It sounded really bad at first, but then suddenly, she gave me the best news in the entire world: I’d made it!! J Few words can describe the joy I felt at that moment! I screamed, jumped, and danced around! I was, and still am, so appreciative and amazed to have been chosen to be one of the newest members of the Scream Team! Since then, another one of my favorite Scream Team moments was our unforgettable “Foot Loose” performance. In the dance, we had a chance to come together with the Cavalier Girls, dress up, role play and dance our way through an 80s prom straight from the Foot Loose movie! It’s been one of the most fun shows I’ve ever been a part of.

Scream Team has become a second family to me. This group of charismatic individuals has become more than just coworkers to me; they are my brothers and sisters. We’ve all had great moments together of laughter and tears. The amount of teamwork and effort that goes into every performance is astounding. Since I’ve been with the Scream Team, I’ve learned so much about dancing and about myself. With every passing Scream Team practice, I find myself transforming into a more versatile and well rounded performer. Much of this is due to the help and support of the great group of dancers that make up the Scream Team. We all help each other to continually grow, challenge, and better ourselves. Right now, my favorite move is the air chair. This is a tough break dancing move that looks just as impressive as it sounds. An air chair is when a break dancer lifts his entire body off the ground, feet in the air, and balances only on one elbow. It is a really challenging position to hold, but as I continue to practice, it becomes easier! I’ve even learned to add my own variations to the move! Also, I am currently working on other break dancing power moves such as windmills and 90’s.

I’m really excited about this season. The Cavs just get better and better with every passing year. This year the Cavaliers are dominating the court in practically every game! Just look at them go! LeBron James continues to break records, Z returns from his injury to the welcoming roar of  20,000+ fans, and JJ’s “throwing the hammer down” every chance he gets! It is our season and there is no way anyone can stop our amazing Cavaliers from bringing that championship title home! Now let’s all RISE UP and show our Cavaliers family what it means to be a Witness!!! Thank you for the love and support! LET’S GO CAVS!

    Peace!

    John aka Fabs

Young Meach feels blessed to be in his 5th season with the Scream Team

Wednesday, November 4, 2009, 03:11 PM EST [General]

Hello everyone! My name is Demetris aka Young Meach. I have been on the Scream Team for 5 amazing seasons so far. I am also the Dance Teams Assistant. So now, instead of just practicing and performing with my teammates, I have to be a coach. With that being said, I have a LOT more responsibilities, but who's complaining? I couldn't ask for a better career. I love it!

I feel like the Cavaliers are the best team in the league right now. I am so excited about this season because of the "HUGE" changes to the roster! We are getting everything we need to get what we want. This year is going to be Bananas!

I am so blessed to be part of the Scream Team. I've always dreamed of being a professional dancer and the Cleveland Cavaliers organization made my dream come true! I have a job that doesn't feel like a job because I am doing what I love doing and that's dancing. If I could choose one word to describe my experience on the Scream Team, it would be...WOW, because it has been a crazy and exciting ride from the beginning to now. Everything from performing in front of +20,000 people every game, going to New Orleans to perform at the NBA All-Star Game, to traveling across the world to China with the Cavaliers. WOW!

Popping is my primary style of dance. I've been Popping for more than 15 years. So, I know and do a lot of different styles of Popping such as; Tutting, Hitting, Ticking, Isolation, Strobing, Waving, Animation, and a few original styles. I don't have a signature move. I have a signature style, which is Isolation.  This style is the best one in my opinion because it really takes practice to perfect it. You have to be able to isolate different parts of your body and perform certain moves.

So all in all, I'm living my dream by being part of the Cleveland Cavaliers organization!  The Cavs are going to do great! The Scream Team is doing fantastic! I've experienced a lot and I'm so excited to see what's next for us. Go Cavs!!!
