    Offseason '09

Tuesday, July 14, 2009, 03:01 PM EST [General]

Another great season in the books.  While the ECF was disappointing, the Cavs showed us another great season, and we are getting one step closer to a ring.  This has got to be the year the cavs step up and win, the clock is ticking on LBJ.

So far, the Shaq trade has obviously been the biggest move.  Shaq gives us the first legit center since LBJ has been in the league.  Don't get me wrong, I love big Z as much as any true Clevelander, but Z is not well matched with the beefier centers in the league--i.e. Howard, Ming.  Since the road to a ring runs through Cleveland and Orlando, we solved one big matchup problem with the Magic in acquiring Diesel.  Shaq is going to benefit immensely from playing with LBJ, and seems ready to play.  He has also been healthy as of late, and we got him for almost nothing.

Anthony Parker seems to be a good fit for the Cavs as well.  He is the longer guard that we have been looking for, and solves some matchup problems we might have when there are big guys playing SG--like Carter.  Delonte is an amazing guy, and should still be the starter here, but I think Parker will be the first guy off the bench, along with Z.  He makes our second team much stronger.

Danny Green was a great draft pick in the second round--he is big enough that he might even be able to play a little SF when LBJ is taking a rest, and he definitely knows how to win.  Eyenga is obviously going to take some development, but could be ok.

Finally, resigning AV was a necessity for the cavs.  If they want to remain a defensive based team, they need AV to set the tone on D.  Scrappy players that are menaces to play against are exactly what the Cavs need, and AV fits that bill perfectly.  He has also improved on offense, and is not as much of a liability as Wallace was.

    Cavs Lineup/Depth Chart:

    PG: Williams, Gibson

    SG: West, Parker, Green, TK

    SF: LBJ, Green?

    PF: AV, Hickson, Jackson

    C: Shaq, Z

    That is a fierce lineup!!

    The Finals

All I can say is GO LAKERS!

I have hated Boston the entire season...They are one of the most overhyped teams ever--granted, they did have a good start to the season, but if a team as young and inexperienced as the Hawks can take them to game 7, they do not deserve to win the title.  The Lakers have taken care of their business in the postseason, and I find them to be a lot more tolerable.  To me, Boston seems so overly confident at times--I know they need to expect greatness, but it is a little ridiculous...Lakers are a more professional team (besides Kobe the sometimes whiner, i.e. last summer), and I can appreciate players like Vujacic and Fisher. Don't even get me started on Paul Pierce's "injury"...I'm sorry, but I have gotta say that he is absolutely ridiculous.  I lost any amount of respect that I did have for him right then.  I know that he thought he was hurt, but let's get real, he was milking the injury to get the crowd into it.

If the Lakers don't win this next game, they need to be careful.
