[
General]
Fred dropped the above quote on AC a few minutes before the game started last night. Living in Gahanna, I don't get to the Q as much as I did when I lived in Ak-Rowdy [And I guess I'm officially old because I feel stupid typing AK-Rowdy] and Cleveland, but I agree with Mr. McLeod. It's a joy to watch the Cavs.
For me, this Cavs team reminds me of when the Tribe was good. Like when they were very good. With Albert Belle and Thome and Omar and Oral and Eddie Murray and Manny and Lofton. Moreover, the Tribe had a great starting lineup and sick sick bullpen.
No matter what the score was back then, the Tribe seemed like they were always in the game. Being down 3 or 4 runs didn't seem like it was ever a problem. That one comeback, you know what I'm talking about, with the Paul Sorrento grand slam, made my parents restaurant in Akron shake from all the cheering.
This Cavs team makes me feel like I did watching the Tribe in the mid-to-late nineties. The L Train and company are never out it.
And that's impressive. On the road. Missing starters. Not getting calls. Receiving whistles for nonsense. Whatever. Nothing holds anyone back. And that's exciting.
Listen. Any hardcore Cleveland fan has been through the ringer time and time again. We've lived through horrible seasons in every major sport sometimes for years at a time. And I guess you Bengals and Reds fans can make a similar case, although I have little sympathy for the Bengals because I think they did it to themselves.
And I'm sorry. But National League baseball typically bores the heck out of me. I know it's all cerebral and whatnot. I mean. The dbl switch is pure genius etc, but I'll take an overweight, past-his-prime DH every day of the week. Bring back Greg Luzinski.
I know I'm getting way off topic here and really didn't intend to write a general Cleveland sports post when I sat down at my computer. I guess I'll blame it on the upcoming Spring Training and leave it at that.
I won't even mention what many of us tOSU grads and fans have gone through in the past few years. There just isn't time for all of the pain.
Anyway. The Cavs are kicking butt and I love it. I can't wait for Z and Delonte to come back.
And if things don't work out completely for the team this year and they fall short of a championship, yeah, I'll be crushed. But not for like ever or anything. I mean. I'm a Cleveland fan.
And in the words of Al Pacino/Tony Montana: "There's nothing you can do to me that Castro hasn't done."
Or the Bulls. Or the Raiders. Or the Broncos. Or the Braves. Or the Gators. Or LSU.
Or or or.
Go Cavs!
